Vivienne Westwood and me - 6 degrees of separation

Hello Hello wonderful music lovers of the Hive.

I just had to join in with the fun and share some tunes with you all today. It is Tuesday after all and it is the first edition of #ttt or threetunetuesday of our new year 2023!.

I think most of us will be glad to see the back of 2022!

In the last week, I saw that another British Queen passed away, this time it was Vivienne Westwood the Queen of British Fashion

First of all ...

Hello Hello to all the music lovers of Hive

It is Tuesday and that of course means that it is #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes!

Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday

Let's get stuck right in...

The formalities

If you wish to participate in Three Tune Tuesday then I defer you to the simple jist on how to do it from @ablaze ...

The jist is as follows

Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #ttt or #threetunetuesday tags that would be great. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize - more on that later.

This week is week 84 of ttt and if you wish to participate then follow the rules laid out by @ablaze in his post from last week Tom Barry, Sabrina Dinan and Luka Bloom for Three Tune Tuesday Week 84

Do Go support @ablaze as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the five sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this world of ours!

Formalities over, let's see what this six degrees of separation is all about! according to Wikipedia

Six degrees of separation is the idea that all people are six or fewer social connections away from each other. As a result, a chain of "friend of a friend" statements can be made to connect any two people in a maximum of six steps. It is also known as the six handshakes rule.[1]

The concept was originally set out in a 1929 short story by Frigyes Karinthy, where a group of people play a game trying to connect any person in the world to themselves by a chain of five others. It was popularized in John Guare's 1990 play Six Degrees of Separation.

Vivenne Westwood was as I mentioned the Queen of British fashion, but mostly know for punk fashion.

She was married to Malcolm Mclaren who amongst many things managed a couple of bands. One of them was the iconic Sex Pistols which will we come back to in a minute.

First though we shall play a song from the other influential band he managed, this time from New York. Yes the band was named after a doll hospital in New York.

Tune 1 New York Dolls - Stranded in the Jungle

If you know me, then you know I was lost in the jungle, so am playing the aptly named Stranded in the Jungle!

A bit of glam punk rock for you!

Now then back to Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood, they had a clothes shop in London called SEX and yes that is where the name Sex Pistols came from, as they would come in there to shop.

One of the young assistants in the clothes shop became a singer and was in a band as well. Can you guess who...

Tune 2 Pretenders - Don't Get Me Wrong

If you said Chrissie Hynde then you would be right!

Examining the complexities of love from the woman's perspective, "Don't Get Me Wrong" uses a variety of references, from the rhythm of the tide to fireworks, hammering home the point rather succinctly that when it comes to love from the female point of view, it's best to expect the unexpected. As long as you can weather a few bumps in the road, what you find might be worth sticking around for.

<source>

They had some cracking songs and that is one of my favourites, and do you agree ladies it is worth weathering a few bumps in the road?

Now then, who was married to Chrissie Hynde at one point?

Tune 3 Simple Minds - Promised You A Miracle

None other than Jim Kerr the frontman for Simple Minds.

They had some cracking songs I have to admit🤣.
So my six degrees of separation, I did promise you a miracle after all.
Hence the reason that I chose Promised You A Miracle

Why did I use that laughing emoji .... Well Jim Kerr and Simple minds are huge Celtic fans ... and me a huge Rangers fans, so through gritted teeth I like their music!

Yesterday was the Old Firm game between Rangers and Celtic and a game we both watched...

6 degrees of separation, why not try yours!

I hope that you enjoyed thes Vivienne Westwood related tunes

Which was your favourite (if any) ?

Note: The three YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.

I wish that you all have a brilliant rest of your week, and until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎶🎵🎶

New York Dolls - Stranded in the Jungle -- Nice, there is a bit of a Nick Cave or Tom Waits buzz about this when your man is talking, love it.. Bizarre but very very good, right up my street, I like a bit of madness in a tune..

The Pretenders and Simple Minds always good additions to any playlist, nice one.
