Organizing my reading goals for 2023 [Eng-Esp]
Greetings and my sincere wishes for a year full of successes, achievements and blessings. Today I would like to participate in the @hivebookclub meeting where we are invited to share our experience with reading during 2022 and our books-to-be-read resolution for 2023. I invite @chacald.dcymt and @aly.squid to participate in this meeting.

I start by telling you that 2022 was a year in which I was busy doing other important things like spending time with my daughter and my 2 year old granddaughter, so reading was a bit absent. Unlike the previous 2 years of quarantine that I devoured over and over again all the books in my library. I could say it was like a change of habits and rest from the same books.
The books that accompanied me in the days of the year 2022 were:
-Legends of Táchira. This is a book by a local writer, Lolita robles de Mora, where a series of folkloric legends of the state where I live in Venezuela are compiled. I have read it several times and I find it an entertaining read.
-Stories in the Mirror. This is a book that compiles short stories of women who lead a difficult life, suffer in their loneliness, discover infidelities of their husbands, I was struck by a particular story about a lesbian woman who never knew how to tell her family and friends about her sexual preference. Author Marianne Díaz Hernández gives us 19 stories based on real events in which we can identify ourselves or the story of someone close to us.
-The Craziest Grandpa in the World by Roy Berocay. It is a beautiful story of the antics of a grandson and his grandfather who share time together while their parents are away on a trip.
-Happy days (Thirteen chronicles and a coda) by Nelson González Leal, who tells stories of himself growing up in a small town far from the city.
-Stories by Machado de Asis. As you will see, I have a predilection for short stories and tales. With this book I was able to entertain myself for several months. I would read a few stories, stop for a while and continue.
Reading goals for 2023
This year I started with a lot of desire to read. So much so that I have already finished a short book called Rumor de Barcos. A beautiful collection of poems that narrates the life of people who are born in a port. The author, Amanda Reverón, was born in Puerto Cabello and her feelings are expressed in her poems.
I may be a bit ambitious in aiming to read at least 1 book a month, in the case where the book is short up to 2, I just love to read and I am more than sure I will be able to do it. My goal is to read each book and share the review with you. My list would be as follows:
January:
- Ship Rumor ✅
- Scandinavia and Other Destinations, Odette da silva.
- The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exsupéry
February:
- Chicken Soup for the Soul by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen.
March:
- Iphigenia by Teresa de la Parra
For the second quarter of the year I plan to read some books that I have already read several times but that I love because they are wonderful works.
April:
- Casas muertas by Miguel Otero Silva.
May:
- María by Jorge Isaac
June:
- Memories of Mama Blanca by Teresa de la Parra
July:
- History of an undocumented woman by Ilka Oliva Corado
- The Colonel Has No One to Write to Him by Gabriel García Márquez
August:
- The Tree of Hedgehogs by Antonio Gramscy
September:
- All the stories by Eduardo Gasca
October:
- Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel García Márquez
November:
- South of the Equanil by Renato Rodriguez
December:
- Every night it seems and other stories by María Alejandra Rojas
These are my goals, as you can see I have a whole plan that I hope to accomplish and hopefully I can add books to this selection. I hope you like it, I encourage you to read and dive into the wonderful world of literature. See you next time.

Comienzo contándoles que el 2022 fue un año en el que me dediqué a hacer otras cosas importantes como pasar tiempo con mi hija y con mi nieta de 2 años, así que la lectura estuvo un poco ausente. A diferencia de los 2 años anteriores de cuarentena que devoré una y otra vez todos los libros de mi biblioteca. Podría decir que fue como un cambio de hábitos y descanso de los mismos libros.
Los libros que me acompañaron en los días del año 2022 fueron:
-Leyendas de Táchira. Este es un libro de una escritora local, Lolita robles de Mora, donde se recopilan una serie de leyendas folkloricas del estado donde vivo en Venezuela. Lo he leido varias veces y me parece una lectura entretenida.
-Cuentos en el espejo. Este es un libro que recopila relatos cortos de mujeres que llevan una vida difícil, sufren en su soledad, descubren infidelidades de sus maridos, me llamó la atención una historia en particular sobre una mujer lesbiana que no supo nunca cómo contar a su familia y amigos sobre su preferencia sexual. La autora Marianne Díaz Hernández nos regala 19 cuentos basados en hechos reales en los que podemos identificarnos o identificar la historia de alguien cercano a nosotros.
-El abuelo más loco del mundo de Roy Berocay. Es una bella historia de las travesuras de un nieto y su abuelo que comparten un tiempo juntos mientras sus padres están de viaje.
-Días felices (Trece crónicas y una coda) de Nelson González Leal, quien nos narra historias de él mismo mientras crecía en un pueblito apartado de la ciudad.
-Cuentos de Machado de Asis. Como verán, tengo predilección por los cuentos y las historias cortas. Von este libro pude entretenerme durante varios meses. Leía unos cuentos me detenía por un tiempo y continuaba.
Objetivos en lectura para el 2023
Este año inicié con muchas ganas de leer. Tanto que ya he terminado un libro corto llamado Rumor de Barcos. Un hermoso poemario que nos narra la vida de las personas que nacen en un puerto. La autora Amanda Reverón, es nacida en Puerto Cabello y sus sentimientos están expresados en sus poemas.
Tal vez sea un poco ambiciosa al pretender leer por lo menos 1 libro al mes, en el caso donde el libro sea corto hasta 2, es que me encanta leer y estoy más que segura que podré hacerlo. Mi objetivo es leer cada libro y compartir la reseña con ustedes. Mi lista sería la siguiente:

Febrero:

Para el segundo trimestre del año pienso leer algunos libros que ya he leido varias veces pero que me encantan por ser obras maravillosas.

- Memorias de Mamá Blanca de Teresa de la Parra
Julio:
- Historia de una indocumentada de Ilka Oliva Corado
- El Coronel no tiene quién le escriba de Gabriel García Márquez

- El árbol de los erizos de Antonio Gramscy
Septiembre:
- Todos los cuentos de Eduardo Gasca
Octubre:
- Crónica de una muerte anunciada de Gabriel García Márquez
Noviembre:
- Al sur del Equanil de Renato Rodríguez
Diciembre:
- Todas las noches parece y otros relatos de María Alejandra Rojas
Estos son mis objetivos, vomo verán tengo toda una planificación que espero cumplir y ojalá y pueda más bien agregar libros a esta selección. Espero les guste, los animo a leer y a sumergirse en ese maravilloso mundo de las letras. Nos vemos en una próxima oportunidad.
