🇪🇸 ~ ¡Hola a todos amigos!, espero estén pasando un agradable y tranquilo domingo, curioso que sea último día de Mayo para compartir esta pequeña pero importante aventura que tuve a principio de mes.
Sigo junto a mis amigas, atenta a las jornadas de salud veterinaria y vacunación gratuita o a bajo costo que se desarrollan periódicamente en distintas partes de mi ciudad; nuestros gatitos comunitarios han sido difíciles de atrapar y por eso el proceso de vacunación con ellos es mas lento, pero seguimos perseverando en la meta de que todos tengan al día su control de salud.
Para esta ocasión decidimos que era momento de llevar también a nuestras mascotas, cuyo cronograma de vacunación estaba atrasado porque decidimos que los gatitos comunitarios al estar más expuestos tenían prioridad: En total llevamos 1 gatita comunitaria de la tercera edad, y 4 mascotas.

🇺🇸 ~ Hello, everyone! I hope you’re all having a nice, relaxing Sunday. It’s funny that it’s the last day of May—the perfect time to share this small but important adventure I had at the beginning of the month.I’m still working with my friends, keeping an eye out for the veterinary health clinics and free or low-cost vaccination drives that take place periodically in different parts of my city; our community cats have been hard to catch, so the vaccination process with them is slower, but we keep working toward our goal of making sure they all stay up to date on their health checkups.
For this occasion, we decided it was time to bring our own pets as well, whose vaccination schedule was behind because we had prioritized the community kittens, who are more exposed: In total, we brought one elderly community cat and four pets.

Pero esta ocasión fue diferente, normalmente para trasladarnos a estos eventos movilizamos a los gatitos en taxi, pero como esta jornada de salud era relativamente cerca de nuestra zona decidimos ir caminando para ahorrar un poco de dinero.
No mentiré, fue agotador, los gatitos están bien alimentados así que pesan bastante y después de unos 20 minutos de caminata bajo el sol y el extremo calor que estaba haciendo y que persiste estos días, llegamos bastante cansadas y algo mareadas al lugar.
Me arrepentí de no llevar un termo con agua fría y algo para merendar, pero lo importante es que llegamos al sitio, y se que si vuelvo a intentar algo así debo ir mejor preparada.

But this time was different. Usually, we take the kittens to these events by taxi, but since this health clinic was relatively close to where we live, we decided to walk to save a little money.I won’t lie—it was exhausting. The kittens are well-fed, so they’re pretty heavy, and after about a 20-minute walk under the sun in the extreme heat that’s been lingering these days, we arrived at the venue pretty tired and a bit dizzy.
I regretted not bringing a thermos of cold water and a snack, but the important thing is that we made it there, and I know that if I try something like this again, I need to be better prepared.

El evento se realizó en un conjunto residencial cerrado, para poder ingresar tuvimos que registrarnos previamente en un listado contactando a la vecina organizadora que hizo el enlace con "Misión Nevado" para traer esta ayuda a su comunidad.
Puedo decir felizmente que todo estuvo bien organizado, fue un evento pequeño y la mayoría de los asistentes fueron residentes, especialmente personas preocupadas por sus mascotas comunitarias.
También me gustaría decir que preferí este evento pequeño antes que las jornadas más grandes o en zonas mas concurridas, la experiencia es menos estresante no solo para mi sino también para los gatitos; aquí la gente fue muy educada, respetaba el espacio de otras mascotas, y los doctores veterinarios se portaron excelente, siempre agradezco mucho su paciencia, especialmente con las mascotas nerviosas o de carácter difícil.

The event took place in a gated community. To gain entry, we had to sign up in advance by contacting the neighbor who organized the event and served as the liaison with "Misión Nevado" to bring this aid to her community.I’m happy to say that everything was well organized. It was a small event, and most of the attendees were residents—especially people concerned about their community pets.
I’d also like to say that I preferred this small event over larger ones or those in busier areas; the experience is less stressful not only for me but also for the kittens. Here, people were very polite, respected other pets’ space, and the veterinarians were excellent. I’m always very grateful for their patience, especially with nervous or difficult pets.

✦ I've always thought the Mision Nevado truck was cute, but I hadn't been able to get a good photo of it until now ✦
✦ I hope this government-funded assistance continues for many years to come; it’s a vital resource for low-income individuals or those who have difficulty traveling far from home to receive veterinary care. I hope that, no matter what the future holds for our country, these kinds of initiatives will continue—they involve many valuable and talented people who truly care about animal health ✦
Para el regreso a casa mi amiga estaba negada a volver a hacer el recorrido a pie, porque teníamos que hacer varios viajes por separado para regresar a los gatitos a casa; así que contactó a un vecino taxista y el retorno fue con algo mas de comodidad (mis pies y mi piel lo agradecieron, aunque use protector solar antes de salir, mi cara y mi cuello me ardían mucho al final de la tarde).
Para la fecha de hoy oficialmente todas nuestras mascotas tienen su vacuna antirrábica del año, aún nos falta 2 gatitos comunitarios pero sé que podré atraparlos para la próxima ocasión, toca hacer cebos de sardina y utilizar la vieja técnica de saltar sobre ellos con una cesta enorme 😂
On the way home, my friend refused to walk the whole way again, since we had to make several separate trips to take the kittens back; so she called a neighbor who’s a taxi driver, and the ride home was a bit more comfortable (my feet and skin were grateful—even though I’d put on sunscreen before leaving, my face and neck were burning badly by late afternoon).
As of today, all our pets have officially received their annual rabies shots. We still have two community kittens left, but I know I’ll be able to catch them next time—I just need to make some sardine bait and use the old trick of jumping on them with a huge basket 😂

Que bueno que hagan estás jornadas de salud y bienestar para los animales de la ciudad, tienen unos hermosos gatos y ya vacunados. Los gatos ferales se pueden atrapar con trampas para mamíferos, quizás puedan conseguir alguna prestada para atrapar los dos gatos que faltaron.
Only a true pet lover would go through the effort, heat, sunburn and thirst for the benefit of our beloved pets.
