a Handful of Hidden Paradise

The blue sea combined with white sand with a row of hills in the distance, spoils the eyes of anyone who sees it. Views like this are easy to find in marine tourism areas, along the coastline of Lhoknga District, Aceh Besar. Dozens of locations have been managed for tourists.

In addition to the Lampuuk Beach area, and Kapuk Island Beach, which have been known for the first time, there is a new destination in the vicinity, Momonk Beach. The beauty of this location began to be popular with tourists after the access road to it was opened in mid-2018.

Momong Beach is included in the Gampong Meunasah Balee area, Lhoknga District. From downtown Banda Aceh, it can be reached in about 45 minutes by motorbike or car. After the asphalt road near the site, visitors must pass a small uphill road, full of rocks and mud if it rains, for 800 meters.

The challenge on the way there is nothing compared to the beauty of the beach. Surrounded by hill cliffs, white sand with clear blue sea water. There, there is a cafe and resort called Eky's Momonk. Eky is the name of the manager.

According to Eky, the name of the place comes from the word Mon or well in Acehnese language. In the past, residents found many excavations there such as wells, then called them by the name Momonk

Located at the bottom of the hill, the stretch of white sand offers its own charm for visitors. Perfect location for selfies. Swim, go ahead, although not recommended too far, because of the many sharp rocks there. However, the manager has prepared a special location for children, making it a kind of pool bordered by rocks to be safe from waves.
