Black Army Fly Insect (Hermetia illucens)
Hermetia illucens or Black Army Flies is a type of fly from the family Stratiomyidae with the genus Hermetia, species Hermetia illucens. To find this sport, of course, I have to look for piles of organic waste. I got this fly in a pile of sago pulp which I saw as organic fertilizer on potted plants.
The black army fly plays a very important role in breaking down organic waste into compost. The ability of larvae to eat organic waste is because in their intestines there are cellulolytic bacteria that produce cellulase enzymes that play a role in cellulose hydrolysis.
