Understanding what is Devnet, Testnet and Mainnet when it comes to cryptocurrency

Before I digresses fully into what we have at hand I must commend the Aptos team on what they are doing currently. Although, I don't like participating in Devnet because I sometimes sees that it is full of stress. We all knows that the major reason why some person are participating in Devnet, Testnet, and Mainnet is simply because of some reward that might be associated with it. Assuming when you do it there won't be reward for your activities I knows that many people won't be rushing into stuff like this. We have heard how a lot of people got rich through just engaging in either Testnet, Devnet or Mainnet.

Before I move forward permit me to educate you guys on what Devnet, Testnet and Mainnet is. Apart from this post I will also make another separate post mainly for what those three words mean. Many people have been chanting and also chatting me that they wants to know what those three words mean. I have decided to drop meaning to those words so that we all can get educated. Those old hands that are already part of the blockchain might have already understand what those words mean but the newbies might have not come across it so this is the more reason I will talk little about it and provide a separate post for that.

• Devnet: This is the process whereby developers are given the opportunities to test a given protocols. The good thing right now is that for more efficiency developers have dished out the opportunities for any body to be able to test such protocols. The reason why they are letting large influx of people test it is simply to see how many transaction and capacity such blockchain/protocols can handle. In some cases after this testing they are reward at times for the tester.

• Testnet: This is just like the Devnet too. Before a protocol/ blockchain goes live they will endeavour to give it a test again, this is to see how far the protocols can handle things. Just like what I hinted above, after such test, sometimes the various person that engage in such activities are rewarded by some token which is sometimes called airdrop.

• Mainnet: The moment the developers have done their test and the protocols is being certified okay, they will now deploy it live for everybody to use it, that is what we called Mainnet. To earn from Mainnet you might buy tokens since the protocols is already live and working well.

Since we have known what those words mean we can now move forward on what we have at hand. As for me I hate participating in Devnet because the stress is something else. I came across the Aptos Blockchain after series of Solana Blockchain issues. Many people have been saying that the Aptos Blockchain is going to be Solana blockchain killer but I don't fancy such words, I will prefer we built something cool rather than saying this is a killer or not. I have seen those blockchain that are tagged killers not living up to expectations. This is why I prefer we focus on what we are building and not saying it is going to be a killer.

For you to participate in Aptos Blockchain Devnet test these are the things needed to be done. It is an easy procedure if you are following the right protocols.

It is a good thing to note that with the above we are able to knows what Devnet, Testnet and Mainnet is. On my next post I will provide a complex post on how I carried out the testing process, it wasn't easy but at the end we were able to achieve the result that we wanted.
