Hello everyone, it's Saturday, which means it's time for beers and stories!

My pick for today is the Leuven Dubbel Cacau Monk! It's a nice dubbel with chocolate hints! If you have read any of my beer posts before you know I just love when breweries have nice artwork on their labels and this one is just killer! It was actually the first thing that caught my attention.

I'm pairing it with some gouda cheese and it's a great match! Really recommended!

And now I will tell the story of the first time I had a beer that was not a pilsen.

You see, here in Brazil, for a long time we drank pretty much only pilsens. Now, with big brands pushing other styles and also the rise of craft beer things are a little different but back in the day anything that was not a Pilsen was considered very exotic.

This happened when I was like 18 or 19 so I had just started drinking. Me and my dad went to a bar in a small city that was famous for the local brewery which had many different types of beer that, back in the day, we considered exotic. I was thrilled with all those options and decided I would have a Red Ale. Really loved it and had like 3 or 4 that day!

The thing is, I was still a light drinker because I was very young and also I was used to pilsens, which have around 4% alcohol in volume. The Red Ale I had that day had 9% so you can imagine how I was after 3 of those!

I didn't get sick or anything like that but boy, what a buzz! Good times with good beer!
