Fractional silver Libertad from Mexico

While browsing through the local coin shop I picked up several cool items which I've shared recently. Another thing I picked up was this one tenth of an ounce Libertad from Mexico. There really isn't anything overly special about it except that I don't believe I've ever had a one tenth ounce variety before. So I decided to grab it just for fun and the shop owner gave me ten over spot since I had was buying several other more pricey coins.

This one was tough to photograph, being slightly smaller and fairly reflective. In retrospect I wished I would have tried the scanner instead. But I managed to pick up a couple decent shots of the round. I have always loved the design of these rounds, and still not sure why they don't just make them legal tender buy placing an actual value on them. Oh well...

The mountains in the background apparently comes from an old Mexican legend. The princess Iztaccíhuatl was in love with Popocatépetl, and so her father told him if he went to war and returned he could marry her. However the king had no intention of him returning and started forcing other suitors on his daughter. Once she realized the situation she stabbed herself with a dagger and died. When her beloved heard he returned and carried her body to the top of a mountain hoping the cold would revive her (apparently he wasn't real bright...) He then froze to death himself and God dumped snow down on them forming two mountains, one the Sleeping Woman and the other the volcano. So that's the story of the two mountains on the coin.

1/10 of an ounce that was a good score, I do not have a 10th of an ounce and I think I would’ve done the same thing and grabbed it to add to my collection as well🤗

Thats true, and I got it to match my 1/10 oz gold coin ring so I think the tarnish adds to the combination not only do we see the size difference due to the density but also how the silver tarnishes but gold doesn't
