Three Tune Tuesday! A Little Reggae And Ska!

It's impossible to think of reggae without Bob Marley. He was one of the pioneers of the reggae movement, producing a string of hits. Sadly he was another artist who died too young of melanoma. His musical legacy has carried on even after his untimely death.

So to start off my three Tuesday will start off with Bob Marley and The Wailers.

Our next tune is a classic by the ska band the English Beat. They were an English band that also produced a string of hits on to disband in 1983. After the breakup Dave Wakeling (main vocals) and Ranking Roger formed another Ska band General Public which also fared well racking up some more hits. But here it the English Beat with Twist and Crawl.

And for the third tune I thought we should add a Neil Diamond song, but sung by ska band UB40. Surprisingly most people are unaware that Red Red Wine was written and performed by Neil Diamond before UB40 turned in into a ska hit. UB40 of course had a string of hits throughout the 80's and continue touring to this day although the lineup has had multiple changes over the years.

That's it for my three tune Tuesday! The holiday weekend kept me away for a few days but I'm not back in action and shouldn't be away for a while now!

It's funny that it is such a well known song, and even people who hate Neil Diamond music love it!

Great tunes and UB40 do you know why they chose their name?

In the UK if you were unemployed you got a card you had to take to your appointments at the job centre. Yep the UB40 was the name of the Unemployment Benefit card.

I did like UB40 but a lot of their bigger hits were covers like Red Red Wine ...

Reggae and ska, that's the stuff man, these were all great listening and perfect on a sunny day here in Ireland - they provided my background music while I got a few things done.
