Three Tune Tuesday with some 80's punk!

I love creating a new banner every week for Three Tune Tuesday. Whenever you use AI to create anything you never really know what you're going to get. The banner today I generated about a month back and it was just to cool not to use it. It has kind of Guns N Roses meets country music kind of feel. Ironically today's band has nothing to do with either one, but the banner is still pretty badass in my opinion!

Three Tune Tuesday has always been one of my favorite events of the week. It's only here that you can hear all sorts of music from all over the world, and it's a lot of fun! I just wanted to thanks @ablaze for starting and continuing to sponsor this weekly event.

I know a lot of people like to follow a general theme to throw together their songs. At times I will do the same and other times I just go with a genre or a particular band. Today I'm going to go with the latter. These guys were underground punk band of the early eighties that have continued on to this day, none other than the Violent Femmes.

Violent Femmes

qobuz.com

Formed in about 1980 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by Gordon Gano as lead vocalist and guitarist, Brian Ritchie on bass, and percussionist Victor DeLorenzo. In 1983 they released their self titled debut album that contains essentially all of their best known songs. Although they continued on over the years, on and off, they never managed to eclipse the magic of their debut effort.

So I fittingly decided to choose three of their best known songs from their debut album. First up I thought we could kick off the fun with "Blister In The Sun".

Next up is probably the least known of the three songs to day, but it's one of my favorites by the band. It's about be single and wanting to be in a relationship, someplace we've all been before! Here's "Add It Up".

And last up is one of their best known and catchy songs. Just a warning at the beginning is commentary from MTV way back in the day when all they used to do was music videos. How times have changed... Here's "Kiss Off".

I always thought it was too bad their follow up albums never had as much success as their debut even though they did have some good songs. That really is the way it goes in the music industry at times. These guys were definitely one of the great American punk bands of the early 1980s!

That will just about do it for this Tuesday. I had a good time picking out some fun songs I hadn't heard in quite some time and I hope you enjoyed them too. If you don't already participate in the fun, why not join us by sharing three of your favorite songs on next Tuesday. Every week a winner is chosen at random to win 12 HSBI. Just make sure to tag #TTT and/ or do a shoutout to @ablaze .

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my post. If you have any questions, suggestions, or comments please feel free to leave them below. Have a great day!

That's the way the industry is, it's a fickle one and tough to making a living.

Like most people, I am really only familiar with the one song from violent femmes... I need to dig into more of their stuff sometime.

They were a fun band, but never made it to the forefront of the music scene. Not bad for some guys from Wisconsin though!
