The new group formed to record the teachings of Makital have not brought much to tell in the past few months.

Turning more to theory of Makital than observation. Never bringing any foundational new information about Makital. Fish were plentiful, crops grew, the animals still gave meat, the tree's still brought fruit.

Those who lived by the mountain brought word of lights flashing at the top of the mountain. None have ever climbed the mountain. They had tried with the thoughts of putting up more look out posts. Efforts to reach the top halted when three climbers died and several others injured carrying materials up almost vertical cliffs.

No one from this generation had ever tried to climb the mountainside. While not forbidden. Stories of the mountain demon were told at night. These stories were originally spoken as warning to children not to climb on the mountain. If the mountain demon smelled the skin of children, he would smell them out at night and take them to his cave. A red line painted to the side of the mountain, showed the point where the demon could smell the children.

Chatter, what if? So many what if's. How? How could light be at the top of the mountain when the Chahold was not in the sky. Was Makital making a new chahold? Why had Makital not come down to them, if he was at the mountain top.

Stories of the mountain demon demon now being generations old. Even the aged believed the mountain held demons.

Down by the beach. Stories of water demons were told to prevent children going too far out in the water. There was no need to warn them of mountain demons.

From the look out post where the mountain meets the sea. One of the younger look outs, wondered to himself. If he could walk up the mountain from where he was and not climb the cliff face.

For two days Mwenzi observed the mountain from the sea as it rose higher inland. Searching for a way he might be able to make his way up the mountain. When his look out shift ended, He would make his way and venture up the mountain from the look out station.

As for the demons. Makital was here now to protect. Maybe the lights in the night were a signal to climb the mountain.

Mwenzi set out early the day after his shift. Taking some fruits and water meat and bread, the journey began. Narrow passages along ridge started the journey, Not much climbing involved. If he could keep this pace up, He would reach the height of the lights before darkness came.

Progress became slower as the terrain became less hospitable for a leisurely walk. Boulders fallen trees a combination of both. At times cliff faces too steep to climb. Nevertheless he persisted forward.

On his third day he reached the area of his destination in the afternoon. He could see in the distance, something was going on some kind of building he had never seen before.

This had to be where the lights were coming from. Eating some fruits he sat and observed the way forward. How would he get from here to there. Mapping out a route in his head. He was almost there.

Progress from here was slow. The rest of the day used to make his way closer, brought him to the far side of the building. Closer than before, but the terrain did not permit a direct route. He camped down for the night.

Before the Chahold came back, Mwenzi woke. Startled he jumped from his sleep. Not knowing what had disturbed his sleep. The first thoughts, the mountain demons.
