Nice story , and yes indeed the Barber shop used to be a social even for most, and usually just a trim or a shave.

My father was military, so our haircuts as kids were the standard bowl cut :) no barber, just mum, I think every kid in camp had the same haircut, whereas every father had short back and sides, and every mother had the shoulder bob curls
