When I started my studies in the IT domain back in 2016, I wanted to buy a laptop which I saw in a youtube ad. I was planning to buy one but it was hard to decide on one. There was no perfect laptop available near local stores. But somehow I found one laptop but it was thousands of miles away from me and unaffordable as well.

The search

I was surfing on youtube, listening to music, clicking, and switching from one playlist to another. Youtube ads are sometimes unskippable. Then in one video, an ad about the newest gaming laptop came. It was Acer Predator Helios 300. It was the first time that Acer was launching a premium gaming flagship laptop. The looks were stunning and the specs were amazing. I saw the ad and I was stuck on one thing, and that was how I can have this laptop, god.

The distance

Back in 2016, we don't use to see gaming laptops, people usually built their own gaming rigs. Almost every laptop gets revealed in the USA and it takes a lot of time, sometimes years to be available in the Indian market. I knew that it is almost impossible to buy these. I saw a dream of which I was not capable. Second thing, after the launch, the talks of predators were in every second ad on youtube. I wanted to get over it but youtube and destiny always got me.

Out of budget

In the US market, the laptop was around $1000, and man it was not possible for me. I was a high school student and not employed as well. To earn $1000 was another hurdle. After a few months, I gave up on this idea. I can't buy this, I can't ask my parents as well. I don't want to pressure them economically for my fantasies. I gave up on the idea.

The destiny

After my graduation, I got an internship. My monthly salary was $120. I thought that now I am having a job, I can have the upgraded version of my laptop at least. I searched and it was available in Indian market but it was costing me $1200. It will take me 10 months to have it and my monthly expense were also there so add 6 months more. It will take me 16 months and by then this will get out of sale and market as well. I continued with the job and left the idea to buy it in the future. After 6 months I was able to save around $500. I started looking for a laptop for my work. I went on olx and I kept on searching for a perfect laptop. 2 weeks and no laptop deal. After a few days, I checked on Olx again and my goodness the laptop I was looking for was there for $460. I messaged the person and asked him to lower the price a little bit. The person was generous and lowered the deal by 40$ now I only have to pay $420. I rushed to the bank to collect cash and went to him.

I Bought the laptop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so happy that it was like my years of dreams came true. I am typing this post on that same laptop.
