PEAKD has spoiled me as far as photos are concerned on the Internet! Before I state why this is true, let's explain what PEAKD is (for those who do not know).

In short, PEAKD (pronounced: peak dee, not "peaked") is an alternate interface to the Hive blockchain, which provides a greatly enhanced experience compared to the default HIVE.BLOG interface. It is important to note that both interfaces, as well as ECENCY and others, read-from and write-to the same Hive blockchain. They're all like doors into the same building.

It was in the summer of June 2018 that the first incarnation of what is now PEAKD was launched on our legacy blockchain. It contained so many new features that it was mind-boggling! I immediately became an unofficial ambassador for the project, talking about the great, new interface in many Discord servers. I'm sure many people cringed when the topic of "interfaces" came up in chat, because they knew I would be touting the benefits of PEAKD once again! So, what were those benefits...?

For the first time, we had the ability to save drafts of multiple posts not just one! "Dark Mode" was available for those of us with eyesight issues. From one's blog page, voting power, vote value, and time-to-recharge could easily be seen without having to go to another site. For the first time ever, the editor showed Markdown and Preview panes side-by-side so we no longer had to keep scrolling down to see the Preview, then back up to the input box, while editing a post to make sure things looked right. The notification feature actually worked, which was something we never had on-chain before. Transactions in the wallet could be filtered by "Incoming" versus "Outgoing" transactions. Blog pages of any user could be viewed in List Mode, Grid Mode, or Blog Mode, depending on the preference of the user. All those things are just scratching the surface of what was there in the first version — there was so much more!

Since then, the proactive and incredible @peakd team has only continued to make a good thing even better, with new features being added regularly to empower users more! And so, now I would like to talk about how:

PEAKD has spoiled me in viewing photos online!

I think PEAKD does a good job of utilizing the 'real estate' of the page, with a pleasing ratio of image-size compared to text. Sometimes, though, closer inspection of a photo is order. Many photographers on Hive upload very high resolution images and urge readers to "click to enlarge" their photos.

image toolbar in PEAKD
However, did you know that any image in a blog can be easily enlarged with PEAKD? When one clicks on any image in a post, it 'pops out' of the page with a little toolbar underneath. With the toolbar, one can zoom-in to any area of the photo for a closer look, then zoom-out again. One can also click the arrows on the toolbar to view the other photos in the post individually, or watch them float by, one-by-one, with a handy slideshow! Even easier is using the 'scroll wheel' on the mouse to quickly zoom-in and zoom-out, which is what I do most of the time.

As an example, here is a view of the pretty model photographed by @unmadesugar in the above post, zoomed-in to fill my screen and show more detail:

Of course, smaller photos will not enlarge as much as larger photos, and low-resolution photos will appear somewhat blurry when enlarged. But most photographers here seem to be uploading their best work at high resolution. Most of my photos are resized to 1500x844 pixels prior to uploading here, but some of the ones I consider better are uploaded to a much higher resolution.

As another example of how PEAKD allows a better view, check out the following photo of a tree and a boulder in front of the Perito Moreno Glacier, by @sharker:

...and look at the detail of that fabulous tree when the photo is enlarged!

So, how has PEAKD spoiled me? I have become so accustomed to clicking images and then rolling my mouse's scroll wheel to see them larger, that I am now doing that on other websites and in the Discord app, too! Of course, I am disappointed when the image doesn't zoom as I scroll... 🙁 Perhaps this great feature of PEAKD needs to become a universal standard for the Web! That would be awesome! 😁 BIG THANKS to the @peakd team for all the wonderful features you provide for us!

 😊

And yes, PeakD gives us really useful features, I make almost all of my posts here for the long time. And I like to show and look at pictures at high res :)

PeakD has been my default Front end Interface since being introduced to it. Other versions seemed to pale in comparison to the features and flexibility except in Token Incentive to use. I have yet to discover this to it's full potential.

My Tricorn hats off to the PeakD Dev Team, KLR
