"Yin/Yang" COPPER round

In electrical engineering, it is necessary to have a negative charge as well as a positive charge in order for electricity to flow. In this case, "negative" is not a bad thing, but merely another word for "receptor" or "something that receives" the flow. In the same way, other complementary pairings can be witnessed in life: day and night, cloudy and clear, wet and dry, feminine and masculine, just to name a few.

The philosophers of ancient China used the word "yin" for anything that had a nature of femininity, darkness, nurturing, cloudy, wet, and intuitive. Conversely, the "yang" word was used for the principles of masculinity, brightness, activity, clarity, dryness, and logic. It is necessary for those two concepts, yin and yang, to exist and work together for our world to be sustainable. This is celebrated in this beautiful COPPER round.

The conventional Taijitu (or "Yin-Yang Symbol" in English) is composed of carefully-planned geometry which can be read in more fascinating detail in this article.

In its simplest form, there are two colors present. The concept of Yin is represented by the black, and the Yang is represented by the white. Note how there is a penetration of each color by a circle of the opposite color — that feature helps to illustrate how the two concepts of Yin and Yang are irrevocably intertwined and how each principle contains elements of both in the other. Even the most "manly man" might have a sense of compassion or love of learning (Yin qualities) while the most delicate of ladies might have a sense of determination or a love of sports (Yang qualities). The world is a complex mix of Yin and Yang.

That symbolism is nicely captured in this copper round by areas that are either smooth (Yin) or with designs (Yang) that spiral outward. The circle in the center represents "Emptiness as the foundation of duality." [2]

This is another fine round by Silver Shield, makers of excellent quality products that are always wonderful additions to a 'stack' of precious metals.

I highly recommend this round to anyone who has studied Eastern philosophy and religions or just wants a stunning and special piece to add to their collection.
