Darlings is a story about a woman seeking vengeance on her abusive spouse. The film is a dark comedy. Darlings is currently available on Netflix. It was released in August 2022. Watch the trailer here.

Infatuated with roadside romeo "Hamza Shaikh", Badrunissa Shaikh, also known as "Badru", marries him as soon as he gets a government job.
Three years later, in Badru's life after marriage, we see her being physically abused every night for various reasons. Sometimes it's the food; other times it's the fact that she went to a colony meeting without her husband's consent.

Sick and weary of witnessing her son-in-law brutalize her daughter, Badru's mother "Shamshu" plots with her business partner "Zulfi" how to persuade Badru to accept her situation and leave her violent husband.

Eventually, Badru and her feisty single mother Shamsu resolve to turn the tables on Hamza by taking an eye for an eye approach and make Hamza pay for his actions.

The performance is terrific, and the line delivery is excellent, but between scenes, you question if such a film should have been created to convey such a delicate issue as domestic abuse.

The plot does not portray the main character, Badru, going through the emotional pain that a victim of domestic abuse goes through.
