Fungi occur in many forms and sizes and occupy practically every ecosystem on Earth, with over 100,000 species discovered so far. There are many various forms of mushrooms out in nature that might be intriguing to investigate, from the deep sea to mountaintops to your own garden. Not only are these creatures visually appealing, but they also perform a crucial function in our ecosystems by decomposing organic debris and supplying food for other organisms.
