Episode 100: The Century Mark

Welcome back to the People's Guild. In this one, we mix it up a bit and have a whole slew of our good buddies from throughout Praetoria on to help us celebrate our 100th episode as TPG.

Thank you for all the feedback & support throughout the last couple of years!

Enjoy the show!

The People's Guild's 100th Episode and Game Economy Updates

The People's Guild celebrated its 100th episode with a live stream on YouTube, reflecting on the show's past and future plans. The team also discussed recent changes in the game's economy, including an increase in glint expenditures and the potential reintroduction of old rewards. The team considered the implications of these changes, focusing on their impact on the community, the game's magic, and the overall balance. The team agreed to monitor the situation closely and remain flexible in adjusting the reward shop to ensure a positive player experience.

Game Rewards, Transparency, and Pricing Discussion

The team discussed the game's reward system, focusing on the exploitability of features, the need for more engaging rewards, and the difficulty of obtaining rare cards. They also deliberated on the impact of a recent price adjustment, a glitch exploited by the community, and the importance of transparency with the community. The conversation touched on future plans, the success of marketable events, the concept of daily resets, and the fluctuations in the price of virtual land. Lastly, they debated on the opening of more beta packs, the strategy behind it, and the limited availability of certain packs in the market.

Publicity Success, Conflict Improvements, and Communication

Nate and the team discussed the success of their publicity strategy, particularly their guest Joey's contributions, and the need to continue engaging him. They considered improvements to their conflict system, including incorporating ongoing conflicts and new themes, and leveraging existing content for new game modes. The team also acknowledged the need for better communication to address community yearnings for more transparency. Lastly, they praised their colleague's work ethic, passion, and dedication, and discussed the challenges of balancing excitement and anticipation while managing community expectations.

Rebellion Cards, Game Modes, and Integration

The team discussed the potential price increase for Rebellion cards post-Conquests event, focusing on the need for balanced distribution of new cards and proper functioning of unlocking mechanisms for existing reward cards. They also explored the idea of integrating Rebellion-related content into their Discord channel and the creative process for designing a new set of cards. The team further discussed the potential for additional game modes, community-driven decision-making in shaping the story and conflicts, and the reintroduction of reward cards in future sets. They also debated the concept of a "tactic ability" and the challenges it might pose in the game.

Trading Card Game Improvements and Challenges

The team discussed various aspects of their trading card game, focusing on the randomness, current state, and future improvements, with Nate assuring that ongoing tests were being conducted. They deliberated on potential changes to the game's system, including the display of stats on card detail screens and the introduction of new rewards. Concerns were raised about the current supply of character cards and the potential impact on company revenue, with the team agreeing to explore these ideas further. New abilities and gameplay features were discussed, with a focus on the impact of cosmetics and the introduction of new cards, while the team also debated the comparisons between gaming abilities of Rebellion and Chaos Legion.

Balancing Rewards and Community Engagement

The team deliberated on the frequency and size of reward sets, settling on a strategy of releasing them in stages to maintain demand and keep the offerings fresh. They emphasized the importance of adaptability and balance between consistent releases and community engagement. New features were discussed, including a 'Death Summoner's' concept and the potential for unique abilities for each game element. The team also highlighted the necessity of community feedback in game design and development, and the potential for future collaborations. They agreed to continue the conversation about these issues in future meetings.

Splinterlands Development and Hardcore Mode Proposal

Nate, a former Champion 1 player in the game, discusses his recent progress in reaching higher ranks and proposes introducing a "hardcore mode" to match higher-level players against each other for faster rating progression. The group also debates the pros and cons of including video in their podcast, with differing opinions on whether visuals enhance or distract from the conversation. Additionally, Tales raises concerns about the lack of a clear roadmap and vision for Splinterlands' development, suggesting the need for more transparency on the project's future direction.

100 Episodes Celebration and Future Plans

The team celebrated the milestone of 100 episodes and announced the upcoming guest, Cryptomancer, for the following week's episode. They also thanked the vocal and supportive fanbase, and hinted at future collaborations with Roaring Kitty. Tales, a participant in the meeting, congratulated the team on achieving such a significant number of episodes and suggested the need for a roadmap for the next month's episodes.

congratulations on the 100th! I never thought it will be possible to be honest :) and that is not a reflection you or the community, just that I felt people are not that interested in audio content, especially long format audio content.

You have proven me wrong. I am happy for it.

Let us see if 200 is possible.

You and me both, Az! Pleasant surprise to say the least.

This last year has seen the biggest growth and there's a lot of credit to you and your support via Hive & in Mavs, etc... - distinct change in trajectory post Azircon episode numero uno.

Thank you! We look forward to proving you wrong once more :)

It’s about 1 year since episode #57. I read back the comments of that post. I said that we have failed you at hive. Hopefully I have been able to change that over 1 year since then.

Oh, man, no question you've helped us in a huge way! You have single-handedly helped us more than double our account's HP in just the last 6 months. Any success we've had on Hive, we owe to you. Thank you AZ!
