¡Hola a todos!

Por fin llegó el momento donde puedo compartirles este pequeño logro: Es la segunda vez que compro una GPU perfecta para juegos, y por primera vez siento que por fin puedo jugar cualquier juego que me pueda imaginar.

No quise hacer este post anteriormente porque quería comprobar que todo funcionara perfectamente y que esta GPU es perfecta para lo que necesito. En resumidas cuentas, hasta ahora todo ha sido increíble a excepción de un pequeño problema con mi monitor que logré solucionar. Sin más que decir, aquí les cuento mi experiencia con esta nueva GPU.

Desde hace meses he estado pensando en comprar una GPU para mi computadora y no necesariamente como herramienta de disfrute personal, también es básicamente invertir en mi herramienta de trabajo. Como muchos ya saben, la mayoría de mi tiempo la dedico en la comunidad Hive Gaming ya que amo los juegos y gran parte del día estoy jugando con los usuarios de esa comunidad.

Cuando llegué a Bogotá mi primera misión fue buscar una pc para poder trabajar y es la pc que utilizo actualmente. La pc trajo una GT 710 que para mi gusto cumplió todas mis expectativas e increíblemente manejó un MONTÓN de juegos que pensé que la superarían enormemente, pero no me decepcionó en ningún momento, pero sabía que era hora de dar el siguiente paso.

Uno de los juegos que mi GT 710 no podía mover correctamente es Raft. Hace unos cuantos meses intenté jugar esto junto a @strawhat y a pesar de que era jugable, usualmente tenía bajones de FPS que básicamente crasheaban mi PC XD. Con esta nueva GPU el juego carga perfectamente incluso en una configuración gráfica "alta". La diferencia entre ambas gráficas es abismal y estoy comenzando a notar que los "Gaming test" que vi en Youtube parecen ser completamente reales.

Antes de comprar esta GPU vi un montón de videos donde la probaban y me emocionó bastante saber que podía jugar una absurda cantidad de juegos AAA. Jamás en mi vida he tenido una PC con la que pudiera sentir que pudiera jugar todo, y es una completa locura hacerlo ahora.

Si bien es cierto que anteriormente podía jugar Fortnite con bastante fluidez, hay algo que esta nueva GPU tiene de diferente: Es capaz de hacer varias cosas al mismo tiempo.

La GT 710 no era lo suficientemente potente como para grabar mis juegos favoritos y esto era algo que me limitaba enormemente. Anteriormente planeaba subir un montón de gameplays de juegos que me apasionaban, pero ya que utilizaba el codec del procesador para grabar, los juegos se veían bastante lentos y no me quedó más que limitarme a juegos no tan exigentes.

Ahora con esta nueva GPU puedo jugar básicamente cualquier juego y no solo eso, sino que también puedo grabarlos perfectamente y esto es algo que siempre he querido.

Cabe mencionar que el programa para saber los FPS a los que estoy jugando algo se llama MSI Afterburner. No hace mucho el usuario @gabrielserra hizo un post acerca de este programa hecho para monitorear todas las características de tu GPU (como la temperatura, los MHz utilizados, la energía que recibe, etc etc).

Yo instalé este programa para saber a cuántos FPS podía jugar algunos juegos y también para mostrar un poco de esta gráfica en unos juegos que he descargado nada más para hacer este post haha.

Uno de los juegos que descargué fue Rise of the Tomb Rider. Jamás había jugado este juego pero tengo entendido que últimamente los juegos de Tomb Rider han sido una joya visual, así que visité mi biblioteca de Steam y noté que este juego estaba allí. Lo instalé sin dudarlo ya que aproveché este momento para probar la potencia de esta GPU, y no estoy decepcionado para nada.

Otro juego que también debía probar sí o sí es el The Witcher 3. Poco después de instalar y borrar Tomb Rider, descargué The Witcher 3 y debo admitir que estoy completamente enamorado de cómo se ve este juego. Siempre que veo un test de GPU en Youtube este juego está allí, y comienzo a notar el motivo.

Es bastante curioso porque The Witcher 3 es un juego relativamente viejo, y aún así sigue utilizándose como un referente en todos estos videos. Solo piensen que este juego fue creado en el año 2015, ya básicamente 7 años desde que salió y aún sigue siendo considerado un juego "moderno".

Algo que me decepcionó un poco es mi procesador y monitor. Lastimosamente esta GPU es muy potente para este procesador, y en algunos juegos tengo un bottleneck de 30%, por ejemplo Fortnite. En Fortnite no siempre suelo tener buenos FPS ya que este juego depende bastante de la CPU, y hay momentos donde mi GPU está al 1% mientras que mi CPU está llegando al 100% XD. No es un problema tan grave porque son bajones de FPS que no se notan y ocurren muuuy poco.

Y por otro lado, mi monitor me dio bastantes problemas para utilizar la GPU al comienzo. El primer día que la traje estuve horas y horas investigando por qué cada vez que quería jugar un juego en pantalla completa, mi monitor daba un mensaje que decía "Frecuencias no soportadas" o también se quedaba así:

Estuve indagando un poco y también unos amigos me intentaron ayudar a resolver este problema. Primero reinstalamos unos drivers, después hicimos muchísimas configuraciones pero nada de esto funcionó, así que comencé a probar con cada uno de los juegos y terminé descubriendo que hay un problema con la pantalla completa en todos los juegos.

Esta GPU está diseñada para utilizar la pc a 1080 según lo que leí, y mi monitor está muuuuy lejos de conseguir esas dimensiones haha. Pero por ahora no me hace falta nada de eso y estoy muy feliz por lograr resolver todos estos problemas.

La diferencia de tamaño es abismal en comparación a la GT 710. Cuando la tuve fuera de su caja por primera vez me encantó lo robusta y sólida que se veía.

No pensé en tomar una foto comparando el tamaño de ambas gráficas, la emoción pudo conmigo y no estuve pensando en tomarle fotos haha. Solo queríamos instalar la gráfica y comenzar a probarla.

Hasta ahora los resultados que he tenido con la GTX 960 han sido unna absoluta locura. No esperaba que esta GPU pudiera correr muchísimos juegos AAA, y estoy bastante emocionado por descubrir cuál es la capacidad máxima de esta GPU.

Finally the time has come where I can share with you this little achievement: it's the second time I bought a perfect GPU for gaming, and for the first time I feel like I can finally play any game I can imagine.

I didn't want to make this post before because I wanted to check that everything works perfectly and that this GPU is perfect for what I need. All in all, so far everything has been amazing except for a small problem with my monitor that I managed to fix. Without more to say, here I tell you my experience with this new GPU.

For months now I have been thinking about buying a GPU for my computer and not necessarily as a tool for personal enjoyment, it is also basically investing in my work tool. As many of you already know, most of my time is dedicated to the Hive Gaming community since I love games and most of the day I am playing with the users of that community.

When I arrived to Bogota my first mission was to look for a pc to be able to work and this is the pc I am currently using. The pc brought a GT 710 that for my taste fulfilled all my expectations and incredibly handled a LOT of games that I thought would surpass it enormously, but it did not disappoint me at any time, but I knew it was time to take the next step.

One of the games that my GT 710 couldn't run properly is Raft. A few months ago I tried to play this together with @strawhat and although it was playable, I usually had FPS dips that basically crashes my PC XD. With this new GPU the game loads perfectly even on a "high" graphics setting. The difference between the two graphics is abysmal and I'm starting to notice that the "Gaming tests" I saw on Youtube seem to be completely real.

Before I bought this GPU I watched a bunch of videos where they tested it and I was pretty excited to know that I could play an absurd amount of AAA games. I've never in my life had a PC that I could feel like I could play everything on, and it's completely insane to do so now.

While I was previously able to play Fortnite fairly smoothly, there is something different about this new GPU: It's capable of multitasking.

The GT 710 wasn't powerful enough to record my favorite games and this was something that limited me greatly. Previously I was planning to upload a lot of gameplays of games I was passionate about, but since I was using the processor codec to record, the games looked quite slow and I had no choice but to limit myself to not so demanding games.

Now with this new GPU I can play basically any game and not only that, but I can also record them perfectly and this is something I have always wanted.

It is worth mentioning that the program to know the FPS at which I am playing is called MSI Afterburner. Not long ago the user @gabrielserra made a post about this program made to monitor all the characteristics of your GPU (like temperature, MHz used, power it receives, etc etc).

I installed this program to know how many FPS I could play some games and also to show a bit of this graphic in some games that I downloaded just to make this post haha.

One of the games I downloaded was Rise of the Tomb Rider. I had never played this game but I understand that lately the Tomb Rider games have been a visual gem, so I visited my Steam library and noticed this game was there. I installed it without hesitation as I took this moment to test the power of this GPU, and I am not disappointed at all.

Another game that I also had to try out for sure is The Witcher 3. Shortly after installing and deleting Tomb Rider, I downloaded The Witcher 3 and I must admit that I am completely in love with how this game looks. Whenever I see a GPU test on YouTube this game is on there, and I'm starting to notice why.

It's pretty interesting because The Witcher 3 is a relatively old game, and yet it's still being used as a reference in all these videos. Just think that this game was created in 2015, already basically 7 years since it came out and it's still still considered a "modern" game.

Something that disappointed me a bit is my processor and monitor. Unfortunately this GPU is too powerful for this processor, and in some games I have a bottleneck of 30%, for example Fortnite. In Fortnite I don't always tend to have good FPS as this game is quite CPU dependent, and there are times where my GPU is at 1% while my CPU is reaching 100% XD. It's not such a big problem because they are FPS dips that are not noticeable and happen very, very little.

And on the other hand, my monitor gave me quite a few problems using the GPU at the beginning. The first day I brought it I spent hours and hours investigating why every time I wanted to play a game in full screen, my monitor gave a message that said "Unsupported frequencies" or it also stayed like that:

I was doing some research and also some friends tried to help me to solve this problem. First we reinstalled some drivers, then we did lots and lots of configurations but none of this worked, so I started testing with every single game and I ended up discovering that there is a problem with the full screen in all games.

This GPU is designed to run the pc at 1080 according to what I read, and my monitor is soooo far from getting those dimensions haha. But for now I don't need any of that and I'm very happy to get all these problems solved.

The size difference is abysmal compared to the GT 710. When I had it out of its box for the first time I loved how robust and solid it looked.

I didn't think about taking a picture comparing the size of both graphics cards, the excitement got the better of me and I wasn't thinking about taking pictures haha. We just wanted to install the graphics card and start testing it.

So far the results I've had with the GTX 960 have been absolutely insane. I didn't expect this GPU to be able to run a ton of AAA games, and I'm pretty excited to find out what the maximum capability of this GPU is.
