Playing Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice | I really hate you, Genichiro

Hello everyone!

And again: Sekiro. I think this game will end up giving me a lot of green hairs, the amount of deaths I've had and constantly being confronted with monsters too annoying is something I'm not at all used to.

In today's post I'll tell you more about my adventure and how I've managed to improve my character, currently reaching the second sentence which allows me to have much more vitality... but it's also an adventure full of misfortunes. I won't give any more spoilers about what's coming, so, stay with me until the end of the post :)

17.png18.png20.png

As you can see, there are many more pictures of Sekiro's back! I don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing this guy's back... although it's totally irrelevant considering the amazing scenery found in this game.

In my session today I started near Mount Senpo, something that ended up costing me dearly as from what I saw I skipped much of the game (I didn't even know this was possible). Just most of the stuff I did was fighting mobs that weren't even mine to kill... but hey, it was pretty fun.

21.pngOne of the things I did was to face a knight with impenetrable armor.

While exploring the surroundings of Mount Senpo I came across this miniboss which was quite unique and I didn't expect to defeat him the way I did. As I have already mentioned, Sekiro is quite different from the other Souls-like games because here it is much more efficient and better in the long run to parry instead of simply dodging enemy attacks.

Against this miniboss it was indispensable to do parrys and attack him at the right moments, because it was basically impossible to hurt him and make his life total go down. Even when I broke his stance and made a lethal hit, his life bar didn't drop.

So after a couple of deaths, I decided to explore other places that also looked interesting... although what I got was a hell of a lot more destruction and got totally lost.

Just look at this:

22.png

I don't remember exactly the name of this place, but I know I got here by using a bell in the Desolate Temple, that's where the Sculptor is located, a character that improves our Shinobi prosthetics and also gives us new ones.

After killing a mini-boss, the rest is simply a chaotic place full of enemies everywhere. After running around for quite some time, I ended up in this burning village with no idea where to go. I simply killed myself and tried again against our beloved knight.

23.png

24.png

After a few kills and starting to learn the movement patterns of this miniboss, I managed to break his stance... and that's how I thought I would defeat him.

All enemies when they have a broken stance are prone to receive a lethal attack, so if they are enemies with more than one life you would simply remove one, killing them instantly if they only had one life. This miniboss had only one life, so after landing a killing blow I thought I would kill him, but just nope, you don't hurt him with the killing blow.

After a few tries I remembered something @oldfool had said in a super random conversation, it was something like "ouch, I killed this enemy because he fell off the platform". I don't know if he was referring to this mini-boss, but I associated it because every time he delivered the killing blow, Lobo gave a little kick to the enemy and the enemy moved quite a lot with this kick. My brain understood what I had to do, so after breaking his stance while on one end of the bridge, the rest was history:

25.png

If he did not die after this, then he is simply immortal.

After this I kept exploring and moving forward on what I thought was the path. I explored more of Mount Senpo, entered a cave, walked through a bunch of places and also killed a bunch of enemies (so I leveled up quite a bit to unlock more skills).

26.png27.png

And all this for nothing.

There was a point where I was supposed to ring a bell, but this bell didn't appear anywhere and I didn't understand why. I had to resort to a YouTube video in order to understand what was going on, and I noticed that I skipped a BIG part of the game, since I had to go back to Ashina Temple (the temple you see in the first picture) to fight a boss and that's where they supposedly give me a bell that serves me for Mount Senpo... absolute madness that would never have crossed my mind if I hadn't seen the video XD.

So I had to go back to Ashina Temple to notice that indeed, I went a totally different way than I was supposed to T_T.

In this temple there were a lot of TOO annoying enemies that you had to concentrate on killing, though I decided to skip most of these because I was just going to waste too much time there killing all the mobs in the temple.

28.png

After skipping a large amount of enemies to advance to another sculptor statue and be able to checkpoint there, I ended up encountering another mini-boss that was a pain in the ass because of how fast it was. In Mount Senpo I had encountered one called Centipede I don't know what, but that one totally destroyed me so I didn't bother to keep trying to kill it, but I noticed that this one was also just as annoying as that Centipede.

I was lucky because the mini-boss after all didn't have an arsenal of skills and attacks that I had to memorize... he simply attacked with that dash and 2 incredibly fast swords that you manage to deflect after a few kills. But the worst thing wasn't that! I managed to defeat him without so many problems and I could continue advancing in the Ashina Temple...

Until I met this gentleman.

I can't describe the way Genichiro sexually abused me in 100 different ways. I was for 1 hour straight constantly dying against this boss, which to be honest, I totally enjoy because the fight feels quite dynamic and looks like a movie made into a video game. Making the deflections at the right time, being attentive at all times and also the sounds of the swords, just makes it perfect and enjoyable despite all the stress the game can cause and constantly replaying the fights.

Against Genichiro I suffered quite a bit because I had to learn every single thing he did, and I don't understand why this cost me more than usual. I even managed to clip a moment where Genichiro just did the trolling dance after killing me.

It was an enjoyable fight, even more enjoyable when I managed to give the last lethal blow to Genichiro and finish with this boss after so much suffering. What I didn't know, and never expected to happen, was to see Genichiro transformed into this:

36.png

On top of his intimidating appearance and how incredibly powerful he looked, what he did to me was on another level. While in his first phase I was used to normal human attacks, in this phase I'm simply not even sure what he did to me.

It only took me one try to know he wasn't going to pull this off today, so after he launched a lightning attack at me that killed me in one hit, I decided to press ALT+F4 because I was exhausted from dying.

So yes, Genichiro has won this fight, but not the war. Tomorrow I look forward to defeating him and T-bagging him to show him who is the real king in this place. In the meantime, I have to admit that it's been a pretty fun experience and I'm enjoying Sekiro more than I really expected haha.

Thank you so much for reading all of this.

¡Hola a todos!

Y otra vez: Sekiro.

23.png

24.png

Need to get around to playing this at some point. I remember you trying and failing Dark Souls so I'm surprising you're starting this.

Sekiro attracted me more because of the parrys. It feels quite satisfying to constantly deflect attacks instead of dodging. I can share with u my steam library afaik so if u want to give it a try let me know :)

This game is one of my all time faves. I really hope that they do a sequel to it. I just started Wo Long, which is basically another studios attempt at a game like this and it is cool so far.

I've never heard of Wo Long before, lol. Have you played Ghost of Tsushima yet? I hear it's just as good as Sekiro, but unfortunately it's console exclusive T_T
