¡Hola a todos!

Revisando un poco el catalogo de peliculas que no me he visto demasiado al detalle encuentro que Iron man, que tiene más de 10 años que salió en cines y disparó una de las sagas cinematográficas más exitosas y mas consumidas en la actualidad no es una de esas películas que me haya visto de principio a fin, por lo general siempre me la encontraba suelta en algún canal y la veía desde donde alcanzaba, me sabía el inicio por lo icónico que suele ser pero hay lagunas en mi cabeza sobre lo que pasa en esta película y además es una buena oportunidad para comparar los primeros pasos de Marvel con lo que tenemos hoy en día que es el mejor escenario al menos desde el punto de vista del dinero.

Iron Man es una película de esas que solo aparecen una vez en la vida, como saben Marvel estaba teniendo varios problemas financieros antes de la compra de Disney, vendieron a la mayoría de sus personajes a otras compañías aprovechando el boom de películas de superheroes que habia generado tanto X-Men como Spider-Man, y aunque todo parecía apuntar a que Marvel se iba a conformar con vender cómics y esperar que lleguen a la cima con las películas de otros estudios sobre sus superheroes decidió jugársela una vez más para montarse en la ola del cine y con ello llegó esta película.

Se siente tan diferente a las peliculas que tenemos hoy en día pero sí tiene mucho parecido a las películas de su tiempo, una cinta de acción con una subtrama con el ejército en el medio, durante ese tiempo y cuando pasaban esta película por la TV pasaba que muchas otras películas estaban muy enfocadas en el ejército por alguna razón, solo pienso en peliculas como Transformers que tuvieron mucho éxito y la mitad de ellas no está enfocado en los robots sino en los humanos y en especial en los del ejército, esta pelicula no tiene mucho enfoque a otros personajes que no sean Tony Stark pero sí que tiene muchos de los estereotipos de las peliculas de su tiempo, aunque esta sabe aprovecharlos mucho mejor.

¿Y a quién crees que le van a dar el rol protagónico de una cinta que es quizá el último esfuerzo de un estudio por salir adelante? Así es, a un actor que en el momento tenía un mayor número de polémicas que de películas, casi nada, la gigantesca apuesta por Robert Downey Jr sorprendió a más de uno pero tan solo bastan unos SEGUNDOS en la película para entender lo icónica de su presentación, es el arco de personaje de un niño rico genio encontrándose en la peor de las situaciones producto de sus decisiones para luego redimirse y convertirse en algo más, la armadura de Iron Man simboliza en muchos aspectos el renacimiento de Tony Stark y la escena de la cueva con Jinsen y Tony construyendo la armadura en secreto es una de esas escenas en donde piensas que aqui comenzo todo.

El viaje del (Super)heroe

Después de darse cuenta de que las armas que construyó están en manos enemigas es que empieza el viaje de redención de Tony Stark que abarca gran parte de todas las películas que ocupa, ya recuerdo verlo en Civil War afligido tomando medidas de control siendo el mismo un personaje que en su naturaleza las rechaza y creo que ese momento se combina muy bien con esta parte de la cinta, construir la primera armadura, probarla y mejorarla son solo unos pasos para ir a controlar la situación con sus armas, más aún ahora desecha toda la división de armas para enfocarse avances mucho más significativos y menos tortuosos para su consciencia.

Más adentrados en la película aparecen personajes secundarios bastante interesantes y que se han convertido en los acompañantes por excelencia de Tony, el primero es Terrence Fletcher como el sargento War Machi.. digo Rhodey, que tiene esa dualidad de compañero-policia con Tony y es un muchos casos la voz de la razon y de la prudencia así como el siguiente secundario Pepper Pots que ya viene siendo más apegado al interes amoroso del protagonista aunque con ciertos detalles que me parecen interesantes ya que así como Tony tiene una personalidad muy marcada lo mismo es con Pots y esto creo es lo que aprovechan en las siguientes películas para darle más protagonismo a ella, me han gustado bastante en esta pelicula déjame decirte.

Hasta ahora en la cinta no han presentado a ningún villano significativo, creo que los unicos que antagonizan a Tony son los terroristas del inicio y ya a mitad de pelicula están borrados de la existencia, eso es lo que tienen las películas de origenes, la mayoría del tiempo nos la pasamos explorando al héroe, sus habilidades y como va desbloqueando sus poderes y no es hasta el final que se nos dice que si existe un papel antagónico en todo esto, aquí es donde comienza la serie de villanos desechables que tiene Marvel para la mayoría de sus peliculas (te extraño, Ultrón), muy pocos han perdurado en el tiempo siendo verdaderamente amenazantes y esta película no es la excepción, porque resulta que encuentran la forma de atar todos los eventos de la película a un personaje, el mentor de Tony, y transformarlo en el reto final de Iron Man.

¿Que más se puede decir de esta pelicula? Es icónica en todos los sentidos, ya de por sí es un muy buen filme, los efectos especiales aún hoy en dia me parece que se mantienen firmes y le dio el formato ideal para que Marvel pudiese hacer las siguientes películas, una película de acción que por momentos tiene drama, en otros momentos comedia y sobre todo muy buenos efectos especiales y escenas épicas de comienzo a fin, no creo que me visite Thor o Capitan America porque me parece son un poco menos interesantes que Iron Man pero sí me parecio interesante ver con otros ojos este film.

Iron Man is one of those movies that only appear once in a lifetime, as you know Marvel was having several financial problems before the purchase of Disney, they sold most of their characters to other companies taking advantage of the boom of superhero movies that had generated both X-Men and Spider-Man, and although everything seemed to indicate that Marvel was going to settle for selling comics and wait for them to reach the top with the movies of other studios about their superheroes, they decided to play one more time to ride the wave of cinema and with it came this movie.

It feels so different from the movies we have today but it does have a lot of resemblance to the movies of its time, an action movie with a subplot with the military in the middle, during that time and when this movie was on TV a lot of other movies were very military focused for some reason, I just think of movies like Transformers that were very successful and half of them are not focused on robots but in humans and especially in the army, this movie does not have much focus on other characters other than Tony Stark but if you have many of the stereotypes of the movies of his time, although this one knows how to take advantage of them much better.

The (Super)hero's journey

After realizing that the weapons he built are in the hands of enemies is that begins the journey of redemption of Tony Stark that covers much of all the movies he occupies, I remember seeing him in Civil War grieving taking control measures being himself a character that in his nature rejects them and I think that moment combines very well with this part of the film, building the first armor, testing it and improving it are just a few steps to go to control the situation with his weapons, even more now he discards the whole weapons division to focus on much more significant and less torturous advances for his conscience.

Further into the film there are some interesting supporting characters who have become Tony's companions par excellence, the first being Terrence Fletcher as Sgt. War Machi... I mean Rhodey, who has that duality of partner-cop with Tony and is in many cases the voice of reason and prudence as well as the following secondary Pepper Pots who is already being more attached to the love interest of the protagonist but with certain details that I find interesting because as well as Tony has a very strong personality the same is with Pots and this I think is what they take advantage in the following films to give more prominence to her, I have liked quite a lot in this movie let me tell you.

So far in the movie they haven't introduced any significant villain, I think the only ones that antagonize Tony are the terrorists at the beginning and by the middle of the movie they are erased from existence, that's the thing about origin movies, most of the time we spend exploring the hero, his abilities and how he unlocks his powers and it's not until the end that we are told that there is an antagonistic role in all of this, This is where the series of disposable villains that Marvel has for most of their movies begins, very few have lasted in time being truly threatening and this movie is no exception, because it turns out that they find a way to tie all the events of the movie to one character, Tony's mentor, and transform him into the final challenge of Iron Man.

What else can be said about this movie? it is iconic in every way, it is already a very good film, the special effects even today seems to me that stand firm and gave the ideal format for Marvel could make the following movies, an action movie that at times has drama, at other times comedy and above all very good special effects and epic scenes from start to finish, I do not think I visit Thor or Captain America because I think they are a little less interesting than Iron Man but if I found it interesting to see with different eyes this film.
