Discovering Argentina Inland, Maximo Paz, a little town full of nature
Máximo Paz is a town in the Constitución department, Santa Fe province, Argentine Republic. It is located on the side of Provincial Route 90 between the districts of Alcorta and Santa Teresa. It is 78.6 km from Rosario, 245 km from the provincial capital: the city of Santa Fe and 70 km from the departmental capital: the city of Villa Constitución. It is located 12 km from National Route 178, connecting with the Buenos Aires city of Pergamino, which is 75 km away.
It was founded on January 14, 1890 by Marcelo Paz, who gave the town the name of his brother Máximo, who was Governor of the Province of Buenos Aires.
The economy is agricultural-livestock in a greater proportion and there are also some small factories with few employees. It has levels of Pre-School, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary education.
In other times it was the Provincial Capital of the Carnival, but in 2005 that event is not as important as before.
Every September 29 the Patron Saint Festivities are held. Its patron saint is "San Miguel Arcángel".
It has 3,441 inhabitants (Indec, 2010), which represents an increase of 0.4% compared to the 3,427 inhabitants (Indec, 2001) in the previous census.
On June 25, 1912, the settlers and the local Parish Priest Netri, together with those from Alcorta, began a 45-day strike (Grito de Alcorta), achieving that more than 100,000 farmers from the provinces of Buenos Aires. , La Pampa and Santa Fe itself adhered.
