@MONOMAD-Fishing Nets 🐡

Today I decided to join the #monomad challenge

I recently visited a fishing village in the north of Portugal as you can see in the previous post.
Fishing nets provide a great format for this challenge, as the geometric shapes in black and white give an abstract and calm touch at the same time.
the almost perfect oval shapes of the wire and nylon traps that hold them give

Here in Portugal we call it "covo" honestly I don't even know if there is another translation even in English, basically it's a small trap to catch octopus, eels, other fish but also crustaceans, crabs, crayfish, lobster, spider crabs among others.

It is very common to see artisanal fishermen with this type of trap inside their boats, which they then throw into the sea with floating flags that help them to know exactly where they left them at sea.

They are often identified with the boat number or colors so that boats and their anglers know exactly which traps and which fish are yours.
This type of equipment is placed close to rocky areas and at depths not exceeding 15 metres.
It has several sizes and entrances depending on the type of animal you are trying to catch, these in the case of the Octopus from the inside take the sardine on the hook and enter through a small rounded opening that you can see in the photo.
Usually the distance between the "traps" does not exceed 10 meters, basically they surround the big rocks with this equipment

Thanks for reading, until the next post😀
