Quintadona the shale village

Today we are going to a different place renovated but preserved and renovated, join me on this tour through the narrow and winding streets of this picturesque village just 40 minutes from the center of Porto in Portugal located in the heart of the Douro region.

I arrived in Quintandona right after lunch, you know those boring Saturdays instead of sitting in front of the television I went for a walk a little further than usual but it had been recommended by friends as this fabulous village has been preserved and recovered with the aid from the State.
I arrived at the place around 3 pm, the day was beautiful, warm but not too hot, ideal for enjoying a good walk along the trails.

I was greeted by a stunning cityscape of vineyards. This region is strong in Vinho Verde.
The village has easy access, with good roads to the village entrance. The whole trip by car was very smooth.
Upon entering the village, I came across a set of carefully preserved shale houses, which displayed the typical architecture of the region. Narrow cobbled streets, perfectly aligned, invite you to explore every corner of the village.

The first stop on my visit was the village cross, in fact it turns out to be the beginning and at the same time the center, there was also a small church but to my regret it was closed

I continued walking through the streets of Quintandona, observing the details of the granite and shale houses. Some of the houses had ornate wooden verandas, which offered a privileged view of the landscape around the village. Others had stone-framed doors and windows, and still others had the old oil lamps of yesteryear, lit with reeds. life" the small village of Quintandona.

At one point, I heard music in the background of the cheerful street echoing through the narrow streets of the village. Following the sound, I arrived at a small cafe that existed with a very peculiar facade, it was as if I had been transported to another time.
On a side wall, several sculptures of faces and on the front, right around the café window, several shale plaques where various things were written, including a kind of menu that exists inside.

Of course, I took the opportunity to have a coffee and compare a bottle of water, which by then was already a little tired.
After this brief break, I continued down the street and found some old shale tanks and dried gourds. The clear water flowed from a small water dam, I couldn't resist and washed my face and felt much cooler.
