Ridge Holland's Dark Turn: Wrestling with Inner Demons

So, there was this wrestling match on NXT last night.

Joaquin Wilde fought Ridge Holland, a returnee after retirement. It was such a big deal since Ridge threw in the towel really fast as Tom Brady had when he first retired. But now he’s back and different.

I think Shawn Spears is changing Ridge. Shawn seems to be making Ridge more brutal and hard hearted. Not a best coach though!

This made Shawn happy for his win by Ridge. However it isn’t about just winning but how he is transforming into something darker.

Intense would be an understatement for that match itself, which Joaquin did his best in but could not do much with an aggressive ridge on the other end. At one point, Joaquin tried a high risk move but Ridge caught him in mid-air and power slammed him to the ground. It showed how much of a transformation has happened to ridge.

At ringside, Shawn was there watching everything. He appears to be proud of what he has done to Ridge. This is a little disturbing in terms of how he is manipulating Ridge.

I am not sure about my position on this story yet. I mean its interesting seeing the way Ridge’s character evolves, but it is also kind of frightening. One wonders how far they’re going with this dark side of Ridge; will he go all the way? Will he do something really bad? God, I hope not!

Overall it’s an engaging storyline but somehow I’m yet to fully appreciate it.

Nonetheless, I’ll keep watching and see where it leads me.
