Today is Different

Today is different.
There is a brightness and a freedom to it
That yesterday was absent.

Perhaps it's the marking
Of 7 years of hard work and determination
That brings on this feeling.

Perhaps the sun smiling
In place yesterday's dark, swirling clouds
Is, my cup, filling.

Perhaps it's the safety
Of knowing I fucked up, but come morning
You forgive and love deeply.

I don't deserve this,
The sweet acceptance of both my good and bad,
In spite of my sins.

So whether it may be
The brighter weather soothing my soul
Or the love you have for me...

I surrender to revelry
In the richness of grace and love from
Both my God and my wifey.

I'm blessed beyond measure
On this celebration of our covenant day
So I say with pleasure:

Happy anniversary, my wife
My love, my life.



I was feeling inspired today by the relationship my wife and I share together, how we can be in conflict (largely due to my own insecurities and poor reactions, but hers as well) and can still bounce back, work through the challenges, and continue to choose love and each other. Seemed fitting since we are celebrating 7 years of marriage today! Here's to many more to come! 🥂
