Buying A Car & Medical Exam Boyfriend

Exciting weekend - Car soon?

Let me first start with the exciting news where I found a few valid car options for us last week. Unfortunately, the one we prefer could not be visited until Sunday because of the owner being a truck driver and the car being in the garage. The fact that someone has a car in the garage is a good thing here with the coastal climate that can quite ruin the outside of the car. Everything seemed solid about the car, the tires were at 70% but that's not a big issue to replace these within a few months or so. I was overly excited and wished Sunday was here sooner.

Sunday came, and even though I requested the guy for a timeframe in which we'd meet the next day, he didn't read my app until Sunday afternoon. So when he finally answered, I thought within a few hours we'll have ourselves a car, yay! I told him that we needed about an hour to get ready and get in the taxi, he told me that it had to be before 4 PM, I assumed because of the name transfer. He sent me the location and when we were ready I told him we could call the taxi. He then said he wasn't home yet he will let me know when he is, which I find highly annoying if you start your first message with we can do it now. Not in a few hours, he said now. But that could be my Dutch directness getting the best of me with these things...

When I didn't get an answer 30 minutes later, I decided to explain to him again that we need to call a cab and then travel 20 minutes more or less so notifying us about 30 mins before we can arrive is convenient, especially considering the 4 PM deadline, we also need to actually check the car, don't we? We should not rush that part as much as we like to have a car, that's just stupid. And then the next message came, he could not make it home after all today something happened. He will let me know tomorrow (that's today). Sigh, annoying!

I'm trying to stay patient

I answered him immediately to find out my app didn't arrive, so either he turned of his phone (could be if something happened) or he blocked me? I have not sent him another one as today was a bit hectic due to other things, so I will give him today and send a text tonight to see if it arrives or not, otherwise we will go check out another car as we found a few more options, some even cheaper but the gut feeling on this one was good so I hope we were right and get to buy this one after all. We both hate the process of hunting for one as well as the process to go check it. I think we are prepared in terms of what the steps are from buying to correctly registering it so at least that's something that should make it smoother than in Hungary at the time. Fingers crossed we have a car by the end of the week!

Medical exam boyfriend

I have spoken about it before that my boyfriend has these horrible attacks after eating certain foods. Some periods he can barely eat anything but a carrot and cucumber without getting pain in his stomach (or worse) so it was long over due to have a medical exam to find out more. In Hungary they did not find anything at the time, while there was already something going on for several years, but he's not fond of doctors so he kept postponing and trying to lower the symptoms himself by eating different foods.

Today he had the ultrasound and while we fully expected another round of no results from this exam, he actually came back with some more info. Although not completely clear, partially because they could not check his pancreas due too too much gas in there (which can point into another direction as well so I read online) it's a start! What was clearly noted was he has a fatty liver, not the one from alcohol though as he barely touches that and has never overconsumed that in the 10 years we are together so my first google searches found this is probably the "non alcoholic fatty liver disease" (NAFLD).

Not the best news on a Monday morning but I try to approach it from the positive angle and that is that we at least have some answers, although he's 100% sure that there's also a stomach ulcer there or maybe (as we read about the gas in the pancreas) it needs to be looked there instead. He can point it out very well where the pain is so the next step is to get these results to the same doctor and see what she sees as the next exam to find out more.

We have been slacking on our daily steps a lot lately, where in my case the reason is my messed up knee the past weeks, but I'm happily going to motivate him to pay a bit more attention to his food and daily steps from now on as the results state steatosis (which I could find on google referring to simply fatty liver) is still something to turn around with healthy food, losing weight and exercise (even if you don't lose weight from it). Until further exam is done, we can't know the exact diagnosis so for now we will just try to work with what we know.

Fingers crossed the actual diagnosis is all something that can be turned around...

Fatty liver can also be hereditary, does he have high blood pressure by any chance?

Our doctors recommend a supplement with Sikavica (Silybum marianum), it is a Mediterranean plant, maybe you can find it.

He had it in the past, I don't know his current state though, he used to have meds for it but then the complaints were gone and he stopped taking them a few years ago. I will tell him to measure his blood pressure and write it down.. It will be good to show the doctor anyway when he can come from an appointment.

Noted, not going to buy any supplements until we know more though but I wrote it in a doc to find back later in case we want to try that. I personally prefer anything not big pharma but I also have meds for my high blood pressure and I'm happy I have them to be honest.

Thanks for stopping by!

Blood pressure also affects the triglycerides that accumulate in the liver, keeping fingers crossed that everything is harmless and solvable.

Yes, I truly hope the same, we can't say for sure until all is examined and it doesn't seem to be the fatty liver that's causing him to get these heavy responses, the symptoms do fit in some things caused by a blocked pancreas for example or an ulcer. What exactly needs to be found first before we hunt for the best way to relief the symptoms. He's been struggling with it for years now, it's time we get to the bottom first and not fool around anymore.

Thanks for the concerns!
