Cutting out noise - Focus!

cutting out noise - focus.png

Time to shift my focus

Although it's been coming for a while, I had a bit of trouble actually making the steps to change my focus to what's truly important and worth my time. I'm not a quitter and when things don't go according to plan, I don't tend to give up right away but remain focused, maybe sometimes hoping for a miracle to happen, which in some cases, will not come. There's only so much I can change myself, and there's only so much time I have each day. I think with school period starting in a week, it was time to actually sit down and be honest to decide what deserves my attention every day and what not.

Super awesome work

Since some months, besides my work for CineTV, I also get to do work for a very cool project that's something I enjoy spending time to work on a lot. Not only do I get to work with like-minded people, but also get mentoring by someone that knows what's up and knows how to get stuff done. I've been very grateful for that from the very beginning. The tasks I get to do are cool and I need to get my creative hat on, which is totally up my sleeve and therefore I love the job.

Noise

The past month there has been noise though, not only from real life bureaucrazy things out of my control, but also online stuff that are not worth my time and effort anymore. I have had trouble for a month or so to remain focused and not let noise (may it be from A or B) distract me to the point that I lose all my focus and creativity due to things I can't even change. I hate it and I felt guilty about it as well, which of course, didn't help me to find back my creativity. I knew it was only me that could change this, I had to break the cycle myself.

Change of mindset

A few days ago, I decided to break my patterns and start truly prioritizing things in the way that I should, and not in the way that I have been doing for too long now. I started working on other things that are important to me, even though I still notice that my creativity is a bit locked, I actively work on unlocking it so that I force myself to focus on that what matters instead of dwelling on things that soon belong to the past anyway. I've made nice progress, even though my work is not done, I have some decent drafts and designs ready that just need a bit more love and final touch. I can start feeling it coming back again and I with that, I immediately know that I'm doing the right thing. I'm getting a bit closer every day.

Working with the right people

In the past, I've worked a lot with people that had the wrong mindset. Sometimes, to the point that it drove me mad, and I could lay awake for hours thinking about things that I could not change. It's their mindset that has to change, not mine. I could only let go, and hope for things to change. Usually, it doesn't happen, but I like to remain hopeful that it will.

Currently, it's time for me to let go of some things as well, and see what happens. I will divide my time and creativity to the projects that bring me happiness, like-minded people as well as feeling inspired and learn from people that are willing to teach me something. It's time for a huge change, and I'm 100% sure that in a month from now, my daily routine looks so different and makes me much happier. I can't wait until I realize that I've been inspired a lot every day and my mindset has turned completely. Change is incoming :)

Without mentioning any names, thank you to you if you are one of these people that I get to work with, learn from, work for or that dedicates time to teach / guide me on this journey! I appreciate you!

I'm happy that it helped another person beside myself :)
I often need to write things down to actually let go when I'm at this phase..
It's a bonus when it's something someone else needed to read to get things moving in their life.

Good luck with that!

Trust me, working with the wrong set of people is a mental stress on its own, it drains a lot because ideas that could possibly bring about a change or something positive could be treated with levity.
Instead of wasting around with these set of people, you choose your own happiness, do things that makes you happy, be around people with positive vibes, people that will love and also support whatever you you. You will get inspired by them and you will be able to finish a project with so much ease.

Thanks for sharing, I am inspired🤗

Working with people with the right mindset can makebus truly efficient. It is why I also learned to say No to people who aren't any help to me but just giving me stress and try to cut some communications with them. You can work well if you have well state of mind.

Saying no is so important! I had issues doing this for a long time and I found it hard to say no in some cases. Now I can do so much easier.

I agree being surrounded by those with the right mindset helps being efficient as well as the joy of getting inspired often..

Thank you for stopping by!

Good ... it's Labor Day here in the States ... honoring the working class by letting everybody rest and enjoy the last Monday off of the summer. It is hot here but nobody has air conditioning in San Francisco, so we just need to stay slow and calm... completed my last distractions in certain places today -- an end to the labor it took to maximize that -- and am working on myself to not immediately go run into more labor I don't need to do.

Change is good .What works for you doesn't work for others. We are a stubborn ppl and once our minds are made up we won't change for anyone. Are we gonna change probably not.As you have said it is ppl with your same mindset will make you the happiest.

I so understand how you feel. I recently had the pleasure of meeting & talking with someone who showed me there was so much more to hive & some other communities. We spent about 2 hours just talking in discord where she gave me tons of tips & suggestions to improve what I was already doing. I had to relook at other communities that I thought I had nothing to offer & it has been a great experience.

I know when you make your change it will be totally awesome & captivating. There's nothing like improving your mindset for the better. Good Luck!

Nice that someone explained a bit more because there's so much to share and endless hours could be spent on that topic! I still discover new communities maybe every week or two weeks, as Hive is constantly evolving. It's a nice journey..

I know that I'm doing the right thing, some things have been a distraction for too long now, it became a creative mindset killer. I won't have that any longer. Thanks for the supportive comments you've always given me!

Yes, distractions are a creative killer & more, it'll keep you down if you let it. I know, I spent 7 months last year away from home and my normal routine, there were children always around and I was lucky to sneak away for my webinars. I had to find a corner here & there just to curate content, didn't get much time to comment though. I think the only things I stuck to was my webinars & my weekly hive goals.

I know you'll bounce back, just keep pushing forward.
