Grilled "Secreto Iberico" - I absolutely love it!

These images got me hungry!

While sorting my images in the folders, I bumped on this folder with just 5 pictures. I remember exactly where I ate this and when it was, because it was a special day for us when we ate this. It was the day that we received the keys to our apartment and our new chapter started here in Spain. This is quite a special chapter for us because this time we aren't here because it was the best option available but because we choose to be here and did all the work ourselves instead of letting us guide by coincidences and see where we end up like the last time. This makes the celebration even bigger when the keys of a new home are actually in your hands!

A long day

We had a van filled (no joke) with I think 30 or more trays of bottled water. We loaded this up because we knew after a few days we'd have to return the van and things would get a bit more complicated. Why not take advantage of the van while we had it, right? I remember we were SO exhausted not by carrying the few suitcases inside but mostly because of the many bottles of water and having to carry it up the stairs inside the building and then to the end of the hallway where we are living. It was good exercise let me tell you! Both of us felt like we should celebrate this victory that might seem small to many but is actually huge to us. We did it all by ourselves this time, which felt great!

Finding the right place to eat

We passed this restaurant quite some times while walking from our first AirBNB to the supermarket as well as when we were checking out a nest of kittens very close to this place. Yet we never managed to sit down at this (always busy!) restaurant that produced the best smells ever, namely grill! My gosh, mouthwatering let me tell you! If we were to sit down here, that day was the day. I knew the place was slightly more expensive and of course we just had to pay our few months of deposit as well as the rent on top of the things we needed to have immediately. Let's say our savings needed some time to refill. But as this was a special occasion, we decided to check if they had a free table.

We were early

As you may know, the Spanish people don't eat early. I've come to appreciate the late dinners/tapas quite quickly simply because before that time, it's just way too hot to eat. The hottest hours are during the hours we usually ate until we arrived in Spain. The humidity goes through the roof sometimes during these hours and these are not the moments that I wish to stand in the kitchen to produce more heat. We were just happy to be able to sit and relax, talk the day through and let our daughter play in the playground next to the restaurant (ideal!). We could see her from our table, so all was great. It took about an hour before we had our food simply because of the waiting until we could order and the prepping time of the food.

Menu

I don't often order a proposed menu but in this case, it seemed like a good choice to go for the menu. They had me at secreto iberico on the grill, lol. I absolutely love grilled meat, it makes it taste so much better, no matter what it is that you eat. On top of that, I learned quite quickly after arrival that iberico meat is super tasty. Back in 2016 we were told by our first hosts in Spain that we had to taste this, as it's so good, but we never did. Back then our budget was very tight and going out for dinner was not something we could do often. Today's menu was a starter of fried green asparagus with complementing sauce, grilled iberico (with pepper cream sauce, a must!) and fries as the main dish and a lovely homemade tiramisu for dessert.

Good food!

Let me tell you, we enjoyed every bite of it! I have to say the meat was a bit much, the portions served are always big and therefore a 3 course menu can be a bit too much. Thankfully, we had our daughter to help us with the dessert as she was more than happy to have a bite. :-) Finishing this post makes me crave this food, so I bet soon we will go here for to have another relaxed evening and some nice grilled food.
