My Ideal Version Of Success | Abundance Tribe Bi-Weekly Question

My ideal version of success.pngSource

Quite some soul searching going on here

As I've already been answering several other questions and doing some self-reflection to answer them in the past couple of days, I might as well join this interesting question as well. Curious about my weekend engagement entry or what I'm currently most grateful for, just click the links to go to these posts.

I have to admit that I usually get very excited answering these questions, but often stick to one a week max as it can also be a bit exhausting to dig deep into your soul. This week I feel motivated and energized to look deeper and maybe even change some things after coming to insights. The more reason there is to join the @abundance.tribe's bi-weekly question this round.

The question

Let's see what the exact question is this week:

  • What is your ideal version of “success”. What does it look like and How can you get there?

This is quite a deep question if you ask me because I never really defined the word success for myself. So maybe that's the first step to take here, think hard about what I consider being successful at this point in my life. Like anything else in life, my view on what's successful can easily change over time because of life experiences along the way. This is fine though, I've learned to be very flexible regarding life plans and goals because I'm well aware that you can't predict everything.

I've also learned that keeping this in the back of my mind constantly, not to focus too much on exact deadlines for some things, staying realistic that there are always external factors that you can't change, this is a true blessing as it really helps to avoid huge disappointments when there are setbacks. These setbacks then turn into bumps on the road that you will overcome.

What does success ideally look like to me?

I have given it quite a few thoughts and I think that I will feel that I'm successful when I've found a healthy balance between work and private life, where I've managed to create a steady and high income to live comfortably, even when unexpected things happen and I'm suddenly out of order for a longer period. I also count to that having my own home, not renting one, a solid car that I have no issues maintaining.

I also want to add that I see myself being busy with several of the projects that I've thought of in the past decade but was never able to pursue them because of the lack of funds to get everything set up. The moment that I'm rolling out all these projects that I've drafted over the years, and some of them turn out to be a success, while others may fail (which is fine) and some may be sold once I've started them and am ready to move on. It's just that I want to give them a chance at least and see if they have a shot in the real world.

For some these things like a house and car may seem like a normal thing as they had these things from a young age, but getting close to my forties now, and still building things, I have never owned a house and I'm still only able to buy shitty cars, lol. Becoming homeless and losing all your belongings is a huge setback in life, but I could also look at it from the bright side:

The best part of my life is yet to come!

I will feel successful when I'm able to do the things I love, rather than to feel like I have to work to get through the month or to pay certain bills. I think that not having the pressure to work, but taking on assignments or starting projects that you love and are passionate about only, are vital to experience true happiness. I can't wait until I'm there. But there's still quite some work to do, let's get to that part of the question.

success text divider.png

What can I do to get there?

First of all, change of environment, because this country is not the one for me, and I will never experience true happiness here. There are too many downsides and during my life, I've experienced plenty of times that environment matters. I need to be surrounded by like-minded people and feel inspired by my surroundings. Due to the pandemic, these changes have been postponed until this year, which was a long wait, but now that 2022 has arrived, I'm so excited to get the ball rolling and move back to Spain.

After that, a place to truly call home. I'm not talking about our own house yet, that's for when I've created a successful life and can afford it, lol. No, I'm talking about our temporary home that is picked out carefully but not accepted due to the necessity of needing a home but only because we feel at home and want to live there. The past homes have always been out of necessity, and I want this to change so I'm going to do my best to make that happen when moving to Spain. A very important factor here is being close to the sea, which we've wanted for several years now. Ideally, a little remote, with much greenery, but this can easily be something that's going to be a demand for our own future home instead. As I said, I need to stay flexible.

When there's a home we feel happy about, we can start building not one, but two home offices as now we are constantly sharing one and that means that during office hours, I'm personally out of order as I'm the one that takes the evening and weekend shifts in the office. Far from ideal, but in this apartment, we don't have enough space for a second office so I'm dealing with it as is. Once this changes, I will be far more productive for more hours each day, getting myself closer to being successful.

I've been writing a book for several years now, the reason I stopped was first as my vision of how I wanted to write it changed several times over the years, so I started over or I spent a lot of time editing it. Then new ideas came to life, but I felt a huge writer's block for so long. I can only focus on those book ideas when I'm feeling 100% zen and are in a good place emotionally as well, so I know that these things will only come to life once I'm settled where I want to be. I've given myself the space to focus on that before I focus on these projects again. I believe one of these books will be successful at least, as I have a story to tell, and I believe I can do it in a way that people will buy my book.

Everything else will unfold and fall into place once we are feeling at home again, I truly believe that and I've seen it happen before to a certain degree, but we are in a different state of mind and stage of our lives now. This time, when things get rolling, we will not stop until we're there.

Curious about my achievements? Check my account every once in a while, I'm sure I will be writing about many steps along the way. The Hive goals posts I've already written so far keep me focussed on where I'm heading and they help me see what needs to be done as well. They are linked below in case you're curious about them.

Conclusion

To achieve personal success, I still have plenty of things to do. I don't mind working hard though and I don't mind waiting a little longer to get there if life gets in the way. In the end, the real-life struggles and bumps on the road are what made me as well. Everything is a life lesson, you just have to recognize it and see how you can use it to your advantage. I'm very motivated to make all the changes happen we've planned this year.

2022, you better be ready for me, because I'm on a mission!

Thank you for stopping by and feel free to leave a comment if you like. Have a good Sunday!

Sitting down to reflect is an atera we should do often but I agree it is exhausting, I like how you presented your concept of success, I have also felt that my perception of success has changed over the years.

I note how important it is for you to have a physical house, something to call home, it is one of the basic things we all want and dream of.

I wish you can materialize the publication of your book, I also have one in draft for 3 years and although it has already gone through an edition it is more than half way to be published.

The only thing I would like to say is that sometimes we should not wait for a big change like moving to another country to be prosperous or successful, prosperity does not depend so much on external circumstances, you must first change the internal circumstances (thoughts pratons) to achieve it. A successful person will always be successful whether he is in China, Ecuador or USA, money, fame, love and health will be wherever he is.

I send you my best intention to achieve your concept of success very soon. @thisismylife 🤗
