Keeping track

While it's not impossible to drop links of every post in a series of content, it's going to get messy at some point when there are just too many links to click on. On top of that, I think it's nice to reflect on the series every now and then to see if the weekly questions were successful in terms of engagement (this is the idea of the initiative after all) as well as to point out some very resourceful editions all together.

I was thinking what would the best approach be for this here on Hive, as I also bookmarked the questions myself in my browser so I can find them back easily. In the past, I've chosen to link previous parts in every post but I wanted to refrain from this with the silver gold stackers engagement initiative to avoid getting a long list of links on the bottom of every post.

Instead I will now create one compilation post for every 3 editions where I repeat the asked question as well as highlight some of the answers so people can quickly scan through it to see if one of these editions contains some valuable information they want to read.

Question #1: Have you ever been fooled / scammed by a seller and received a coin or bar that was not as advertised?

This one dates back from December 15, 2023 so we've been gathering resources for a few months now.

In this first week, the response was already great! I was advised about being careful buying in China, using magnetic slides, including pictures from @kerrislravenhill and @bitcoinman. And I also want to thank @dbooster again for pointing out to me right then and there that I could transfer the old HSBI account shares to my new one as it made me try logging in again. For a long time I thought I was locked out (as you could read in the comments there), eventually I ended up with 200 more shares from my old account, woop!

Reading the comment section it seems that most people have either been scammed at least once, or at least someone tried to scam them and received a refund. Some were less lucky and too late finding out, hard lessons.

Probably the best advise "When something seems too good to be true, it's usually fishy". And this is also a lesson I learned myself when someone advertised a bar as silver while it was plated and came from AliExpress directly. Now I knew the risk for that money asked, but I also knew I had buyers protection and took screenshots to proof he advertised it as silver instead of plated. When I plain asked the seller, he confessed and quickly changed the ad and cancelled the whole purchase.

Question #2: Which silver or gold piece are you most proud of and why? Was it hard to find or a very limited piece?

In this edition, I got to interact with @welshstacker for the first time and he showed me a beautiful Steem silver round from 2018, which he designed. I don't know if he's ok with me using the picture he shared, so please check the comment section in the post linked below to find that picture if you're curious.

That design brought up some memories about my very first silver coin that I bought in Budapest as it also has a tree of life on it, but I have to say that the Steem round design is WAY prettier, lol.

We had @beststart proudly showing his own Hive silver round designed by @silverstacker888, where I proudly showed mine as well.

@Stekene came to share the first coin he ever received upon the death of his grandfather which I understand will be a memorable one forever as it came from his late grandfather.

Another touching story from @kerrislravelhill where she said the one coin that was supposed to be the grande finale coin in her 12 days of Christmas series got lost. Sadly this was just not a silver coin purchase but one with a very touching story, thankfully, it had a happy ending after all. Question #3: How did you get into silver/gold stacking? What was the reason you got interested in the topic?

Now this can be a trip down memory lane for some stackers, especially if they've started collecting decades ago. I was very happy to read the response of everyone such as @ironshield who shared that he was into numismatics since he was a kid going to the local coin dealers with his mom..

And @silverd510 who also shares that his grandfather was the one getting him into collecting coins as well as some other interesting facts, which you can find in the comment section of the post linked below.

@saffisara even dedicated a whole post to the topic which you can find here, so did @silversaver888, @kunschj & @trumpman.

Looking back, the third week's response was amazing as many did their own post full of personal stories and lots of interesting facts to learn about the other community members. If you go back to that week's edition (linked below the image with the question) and then go through the comment section plus the posts I linked for you above, you have quite a bit of reading to do and will get to know other community members on a more personal level as well.

I really loved that week's response and I'm grateful for the answers everyone has been willing to give every week.

That's a wrap

That's all for the first compilation post of the Silver Gold Stackers Engagement initiative.. I've deliberately written the questions in text besides the images so that the post hopefully pops up when someone is looking for answers to any of the questions we've already discussed. Depending on how many response there is per edition, I will start creating collections with the questions and bundle them together for easy reference in case anyone wants to look back later.

If you missed a previous edition which has already closed, you are still more than welcome to leave your answer in the comment section or write a separate post because the questions are timeless and the resources will remain valuable. The only thing that you will miss is the chance to get rewarded for that week's question. But you can join the current edition or wait for another one that suits you..
