Businesses closing, people losing their jobs

The arrival of the pandemic did not only have consequences health-wise. While many people fell ill or died, others were struggling to not lose their job. I feel for the business owners that had to close their "non-essential" business that they've put their heart and soul in, and tried to not drown while losing income every day. Many of them not being able to keep their business open over time, and often have no government support either. They had to tell their staff that they could not keep them and had to let them go, I can only imagine if you're working in a great team how that must feel like you're firing family. Knowing that these people also have their monthly bills to pay, and family to feed. I bet it must be very stressful going through these things. I have experienced losing my home in the past, but this was long for the pandemic. Having no money to buy groceries, looking for people to give away food is hard and I know that some people even are ashamed of it because others will now know that you're in financial distress. I see this differently.

My years of financial distress brought me great survival skills

I never knew that I could juggle things as well as I did back then. There was not a day that went by that we didn't have food, heck we may have even had better food while I was juggling food for free than when we didn't need to do that anymore. There are groups out there that give away their leftovers, sometimes good food, and often a lot of it. I had evenings that I could pick up 3 portions of leftovers, good for several days for two people. I wasn't ashamed, these people offered this to not waste any food, which is a good thing, and they were all too happy to share it with those in need. I met new people and these people taught me new things that I hadn't thought of. In the end, the stress about money was hard, but the stress about food on the table was totally unnecessary and I can only hope that many people that fell in financial distress due to the pandemic have experienced the same warmth I felt from the help of strangers. On top of that, I hope that they will look back some years from now, realizing that they have now gained some super valuable survival skills and learned to be creative to get food on the table. I wish everyone could experience that.

What if these people knew of the existence of Web3.0??

What if these people that lost their job, business, or even house had known about the existence of Web3.0? If you're already signed up here on Hive, you probably have a slightly different mindset when it comes to solving financial issues. I think many content creators on Hive see possibilities to overcome financial burdens in the real world. Loss of income doesn't have to mean that you're going to lose your house anymore if you're willing to put the effort into building an audience here on Hive or Leofinance. If I think back about the financially hard times in my life, I truly wish I had known about this web3.0 or even a blogging site where I could earn a few bucks. I'd probably started writing years earlier. And with that, I would have saved myself many headaches.

Back then I used to feel like I was stuck, pushed against the wall with no option to solve the financial stuff. I truly thought that there was no way I could overcome stuff.
Now I have the opposite mindset and see that my glass is half full instead of half empty and kick myself in the butt, start creating content and solve the issues myself. If you know that funds are coming in within the next 1/2 weeks, you can always come to an agreement when you owe someone or the company money. They much rather hear: "I can pay you 50% next week and the rest within this timeframe", than "I have nothing left each month, I don't know how I can pay any of it." I wish that everyone could feel confident enough to know that at least you can try to solve it by putting in the effort if you create content on Hive. It doesn't mean that you will pay off your debt in a few weeks, but at least I'd want everyone to experience the feeling of the possibility that you CAN solve it yourself. And that you don't need to reach out to your government for help.

You are more capable than you realize, you just didn't know all the options yet!

Billion dollar market cap!

Hive has surpassed the one billion dollar market cap. I hope that this milestone together with all of us chilling Hive on social media, and of course the booming price action of Hive lately will bring many newcomers to our platform so that more people spread the word about web3.0!

@shortsegments on Twitter

I truly hope we will be with many more in the next months and that we can motivate and guide the newbies to put in an effort and create good content. Because I truly believe that we are all content creators in our own way. We just need some inspiration to get it out there, we can be that person for someone to make them see the possibilities.

Thanks for reading, I'm wishing you a lovely day, or if you're in my timezone, a good night!

Having no money . . .

I hate to remember the days when I experienced both emotional and financial setbacks. I was immobile at that time perhaps due to overthinking and depression.

As for Hive, it's my retirement exit. 😆
