Day 16 - Cocktail In A Bag

30 pictures - 30 stories divider set - Introduction.png

I got inspired by the "30 day not-so ordinary ordinary items challenge" but as I love giving things a personal twist, I decided to change the format a bit for myself so it suits me better. I've adjusted it to the 30 pictures - 30 stories challenge. But some days you will see that I also use not-so ordinary ordinary objects.

Feel free to join the challenge at any time if you like.

Publish one picture a day during 30 days and write a story about that picture. This can be anything, any object in the home, a person, scenery or a pet. I'm going to share a diversity of pictures and challenge myself to step outside of the box.

First fresh air in a week

Gosh this week was quite a challenge for me in terms of not being able to leave the house due to a stupid knee injury after a stupid little accident. I have to be extra careful with these bad knees of mine as the private insurance excluded anything related to that injury. The incident this time was the other knee but the joke's on them for excluding the one that had surgery as that's the best one of the two, lol. Anyway, it definitely makes me extra extra careful whenever the pain pops up for whatever reason. No way that I'm risking an expensive treatment at my own costs for only a little walk as every walk (as soon as we leave the front door) includes stairs (much ouch!) and hills. Even the tiny bit to the garbage bin is painful, so I learned today.

I got fed up sitting inside

Because of the acccident on Sunday, I have not been out all week, but as much as I need to be careful to overdo it, I also know it's not good if it doesn't get any movement at all. I felt that I needed to be outside today and when I saw the weather forecast at 18 degrees and sunny, I knew today we'd be having a late lunch somewhere, haha. Especially when I noticed the forecast for the next days which mostly was 14 degrees and rain. Now I can assure you that when they predict rain, usually it doesn't even happen here, but still, 18 degrees and sunny is still much better than 14 degrees to enjoy some fresh air.

Time to get the sunglasses out and walk

I almost regret going 3 meters down from the big entrance of our building, I immediately noticed that one stupid move would cause enormous pain so we walked very very slow. I did have a good walk today because of it though because everything was packed with people and the first place we had in mind to check had no tables left at all. Our demand was to be able to sit in the sun at least for a little while, so we continued our walk to the harbour. With one demand on my end, taxi the way back. I'm seriously not going to risk more pain for just 5-6 euros in taxi costs.

Pina colada

What I wanted to share with you today is something that I think is super weird. For a few years now, plastic is getting less common. In Budapest, they weren't allowed to have these bags for groceries or home deliveries at all anymore while here it's still common to get everything in plastic (recyclable) bags. But straws from plastic, that's a no-go. All these straws are paper, which I hate drinking from. I hate tasting paper in my mouth but alas whenever I drink something with a straw out of our home, I just deal with it. Today was something weird though.

I ordered a Pina colada cocktail as I didn't have to walk up I thought why not, let's have one to celebrate the first fresh air in a week, lol. And then they brought me a cocktail in a bag as you can see above. I felt super weird about them bringing paper straws as in we take care of the environment but hey, we do not love dishes and therefore we bring it in a plastic bag?

The only thing I can think of (it was almost frozen at the bottom) is that they have some supplier delivering these cocktails ready to go in a bag so that they only have to open it and add a straw? Maybe they even recycle the bags, I don't know but I felt it was weird.

The good thing is, this was seriously the best (for real!) Pina colada I ever had. So good! The food was also nice, but that's for another day.

Have you ever been served a cocktail like this? What's your take on this?
