Fairy and the mirror - step by step pixelart ENG/ESP
Welcome to my blog, in this post I'm going to show you my creative process, we'll talk about how exactly I made this pixelart, how long it took me to make it, and I'll show you a step by step of it.
Bienvenidos a mi blog, en este post voy a mostrarte mi proceso creativo, hablaremos de como exactamente realice este pixelart, cuanto tiempo me tomo hacerlo, y les mostrare un paso a paso de ello.
LE INSPIRACIONE :3
very well, those who follow me know me and know that unless you are GOD, you can't draw without a previous sketch, a sketch with a more or less projected idea of what you want to do.
Anyway, I like fairies and I've been watching gameplays of bloodstained so no doubt I got inspiration from there, I've loved castlevania for years, especially the DS ones that were in pixelart and looked simply beautiful.
and what the hell does castlevania, bloodstained and this illustration have to do with each other?
well there are enemies in the game that are different types of creatures C: among them there is a fairy (in bloodstained game created by the same creator of castlevania) in the games there are usually pictures and mirrors through which you can travel so that's where my inspiration came from. XD I guess talking about my inspiration for you must feel like I'm telling you a very strange dream. sorry XD that's how my autism works AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
muy bien, quien me sigue me conoce y sabe que a no ser que seas DIOS, no puedes dibujar sin hacer un boceto previo un boceto con una idea mas o menos proyectada de que es lo que quieres hacer.
En fin, me gustan las hadas y he estado viendo gameplays de bloodstained asi que sin duda tuve inspiracion de alli, me encanta castlevania desde hace a;os, sobre todo los de DS que estaban en pixelart y se veian simplemente hermosos.
y que rayos tiene que ver castlevania, bloodstained y esta ilustracion?
bueno hay enemigos en el juego que son distintos tipos de criaturas C: entre ellas hay un hada (en bloodstained juego creado por el mismo creador de castlevania) en los juegos suelen haber cuadros y espejos a traves de los cuales puedes viajar asi que de alli partio mi inpiracion. XD creo que hablarles sobre mi inspiracion para ustedes se debe sentir como que les estoy relatando un sueño muy extraño. lo siento XD asi funciona mi autismo AHAHAHAHAHA
LE SKETCH
you know, I always start with this version of what I want to do, it's sloppy lines as I mentioned before, the face and the body, from now I tell you that making hands and feet in pixelart is a nightmare, you can't just make a hideous blob, NO, it has to have a shape so most of the time I squint my eyes XD to make sure the silhouette or the figure has the shape of whatever I want to do.
ya saben, siempre comienzo con esta version del lo que quiero hacer, son lineas descuidadas como mencione anteriormente, la cara y el cuerpo, desde ahora les digo que hacer manos y pies en pixelart es una pesadilla, no puedes hacer una mancha horrenda y ya, NO, tiene que tener una forma asi que la mayoria de las veces entrecierro los ojos XD para asegurarme de que la silueta o la figura tiene forma de lo que sea que quiera hacer.
LOWER THE OPACITY
Here I reduce the opacity of the sketch layer to start drawing clean lines.
aqui reduzco la opacidad de la capa del sketch para comenzar a trazar lineas limpias.
CLEAN LINES
at this stage I try to work the lines as clean as possible, that the curves look like curves, modifying 1 pixel can make you modify the whole line of pixels that follow it so you have to be careful with where you put each pixel... mmm in pixelart doing something wrong at first is reduced to: you will have to do it all over again.
what i use for pixelart doesn't have options like rotating or turning the canvas, so making curves is terrible. the selection tools are not like those of a normal illustration program like photoshop either. anyway it has its level of difficulty to work with clean lines in pixelart.
without a doubt much more complex than normal digital illustration, but I have more fun with this one.
en esta etapa trato de trabajar las lineas lo mas limpio posible, que las curvas se vean como curvas, modificar 1 solo pixel puede hacer que debas modificar toda la linea de pixeles que le siguen asi que hay que ser cuidadosos con donde se pone cada pixel... mmm en pixelart hacer algo mal en un principio se reduce a : tendras que hacer todo de nuevo.
lo que uso para pixelar no tiene opciones como rotar o girar el canvas, por lo tanto hacer curvas es terrible. las herramientas de seleccion tampoco son como las de un programa normal de ilustracion como photoshop. en fin tiene su nivel de dificultad trabajar las lineas limpias en pixelart.
sin dudas mucho mas complejo que la ilustracion digital normal, pero yo me divierto mas con este.

I think the title is pretty obvious, I duplicate the lineart layer and this is the one I fill with color, later I will show you what color palette I used.

let the shadow work begin !
After having the base of the body I want, I start working on the shadows of the body, I already have this process relatively learned and automated, this is due to how much I have dedicated to observe how the shadows work in humans or things, so if the light comes from the front of the character I know where the shadows will be, if you still find it hard to put shadows in a place where they have some coherence, I suggest you to observe the shadows and lights, I am not an expert 100% but at least I know that it keeps a certain logic what I do.
Después de tener la base del cuerpo que quiero, comienzo a trabajar en las sombras del cuerpo, yo ya tengo relativamente este proceso aprendido y automatizado, esto se debe a lo mucho que he dedicado a observar como las sombras funcionan en humanos o cosas, asi que si la luz viene de frente del personaje ya se donde las sombras van a estar, si aun te cuesta poner sombras en un lugar en el que tengan algo de coherencia, te sugiero observar las sombras y las luces, no soy una experta 100% pero al menos se que mantiene una cierta lógica lo que hago.

very well, I am very picky and perfectionist with what I do, part of drawing is to convey a message, a short story or beauty, in this case the fairy is very pretty and well done but it seemed boring just a fairy there so I decided to add more elements to this equation, and what started as a simple mirror ended up being more than that ....
muy bien, soy muy quisquillosa y perfeccionista con lo que hago, parte de dibujar es transmitir un mensaje, una historia corta o belleza, en este caso el hada es muy bonita y esta bien hecha pero me parecía aburrido solo un hada allí así que decidí añadir mas elementos a esta ecuación, y lo que comenzó como un simple espejo acabo siendo mas que eso...

Muy buen trabajo, aunque le tengo pánico a los lienzos tan grandes, porque llevan mucho tiempo hacerlos. Yo hago todo con aseprite o pixelorama.
