The 100 best songs of success of electronic music

In the Techno and Dreamhouse categories, Robert Miles' song "Children" belonged to very successful DJs around the world in the '90s and established a whole new genre when it hit the charts. In 1994, Miles wrote the song in one night and released it on Joe Vanelli's EP-Soundtracks.

When Vanelli played the song in a nightclub, Simon Berry took an interest in it and licensed it, making it an instant hit and signing Miles at the same time. The complete piece is one of the cheapest ever.

The Dreamhouse style of music was a response to the stronger critical voices of upbeat techno music of the time, which also came with drugs and led to some deaths. The genre was successful in the 90s, but then lost interest. The most dreamy melancholic sound is overshadowed by dancing beats and rhythms. Miles, from Switzerland, died of cancer in Ibiza at the age of 47.

The original inspiration for the song came from photographs of children in war-torn Yugoslavia, Robert Myers (1969-2017) testified through his father Albino Concina, who was among those obtained during the country's humanitarian mission.

This track belongs to the club trance genre (especially "Dream Trance"). Robert Myers designed it this way for a very specific reason. His goal was to create an ending track to allow partygoers to calm down before heading out the door. That's because at the time, car accidents involving young people returning from raves were serious, especially in Miles' home country of Italy. In fact, things got so bad that the events became known collectively as the Saturday Night Massacre.
