Swimming in Nemrut Crater Lake at an altitude of 2200 meters.

With the weather getting warmer now, people are flocking to lakes and seaside areas to cool off. There are many lakes, rivers, and streams near where I live. They're ideal for swimming. I learned to swim in a stream when I was little. Because the streams are narrow, they're not ideal for adults. They're perfect for children and adults learning to swim.

Havaların iyice ısındığı bu dönemde insanlar serinlemek için soluğu göl, deniz kenarında alıyor. Yaşadığım yere yakın çok sayıda göl, nehir, dere var. Yüzmek için ideal. Küçükken yüzmeyi derede öğrendim. Derelerin alanı dar olduğu için yetişkin insanlar için ideal değil. Çocuklar için yüzme öğrenmek için kişiler için ideal bir yer.

A few days ago, I mentioned my experience swimming in Lake Van. I don't like that it's a soda lake, but otherwise it has many advantages. Now I'll talk about my experience at Nemrut Crater Lake, which is the largest crater lake in Türkiye and the second largest in the world. The lake is located at an altitude of around 2200 meters. There is an altitude difference of about 450 meters between it and Lake Van. There is a temperature difference of about 3 degrees between the waters of the two lakes. In the early mornings, even towards noon and in the evenings, the water of Nemrut Lake is quite cold. Anyone who enters the lake water will feel cold and want to get out immediately. When I swam, it was around 5:30 PM. That's when the lake water is at its warmest.

Birkaç gün önce Van Gölü'nde yüzme deneyiminden bahsetmiştim. Sodalı bir göl olmasını sevmiyorum, bunun dışında çok fazla avantaja sahip. Şimdi de Türkiye'nin en büyük, dünyanın 2. büyük krater gölü olan Nemrut Krater Gölü'ndeki deneyimimden bahsedeceğim. Gölün bulunduğu yerin rakımı 2200 metre civarı. Van Gölü ile aralarında yaklaşık 450 metre rakım farkı var. İki göl suyu arasında yaklaşık 3 derece civarında sıcaklık farkı var. Sabah erken saatlerinde hatta öğlene doğru, akşam vakitlerinde Nemrut'un göl suyu oldukça soğuk oluyor. Göl suyuna giren biri üşüyüp hemen sudan çıkmak ister. Yüzdüğüm vakit saat 17:30 civarıydı. Göl suyunun en sıcak olduğu saatler.

I went into the lake; the water temperature was exactly what I wanted. Since it's freshwater, there's absolutely nothing bothersome about it. Animals drink from this lake water. Because the water is clean, you don't vomit even if it gets stuck in your throat. Since Nemrut Crater is a place where wild animals live, a bear could come from the forest and approach you at any moment. The brown bears here generally don't attack, but you never know what a bear might do.

Göle girdim, su sıcaklığı tam da istediğim sıcaklıkta. Tatlı su olduğu için hiçbir şekilde rahatsız edici yönü yok. Hayvanlar bu göl suyundan içiyor. Su temiz olduğu için boğazınıza kaçsa bile kusmuyorsunuz. Nemrut Krateri vahşi hayvanların yaşadığı bir yer olduğu için her an ormandan bir ayı gelip size doğru yaklaşabilir. Buradaki boz ayılar genelde saldırmıyor tabii ayının ne yapacağı belli değil.

The lake was a bit choppy due to the wind. I swam for about 30 minutes. I could have swum longer if the lake had been calmer. Besides, I swam alone; I could have spent more time in the lake if my friends had been swimming with me.

Rüzgarın etkisi ile birlikte göl biraz dalgalıydı. Yaklaşık 30 dakika boyunca yüzdüm. Göl daha durgun olsaydı daha fazla yüzebilirdim. Bunun dışında tek başıma yüzdüm, arkadaşlarım da yüzseydi gölde daha fazla vakit geçirebilirdim.
