I think it is a great luck to live in the city where the world's second largest crater lake is located. In previous years, I used to go 5-6 times during the year, I have already had the opportunity to go 4 times. I made my first visit this year in the first week of May.

To reach the caldera, it is necessary to climb the mountain first. After climbing the mountain, this time it is necessary to descend to the place where the lakes are. The altitude of Tatvan district center is around 1650 meters. The summit of the mountain we climbed is about 2600 meters, in the area where the lakes are located, the altitude shows around 2200 meters. I was able to take the measurements because I had a GPS app on my phone.

Kalderaya ulaşmak için öncelikle dağı tırmanmak gerekiyor. Dağı tırmandıktan sonra, bu kez de göllerin olduğu yere doğru iniş yapmak gerekiyor. Tatvan ilçe merkezinin rakımı 1650 metre civarı. Since one of my friends opened a business in the area close to the Nemrut Crater Lake road route, I think I will visit this place a lot. On my first visit this year, I could not go as far as the lakes because the roads were covered with snow. We had climbed from the periphery of the mountain to the top of the mountain by car. Now the roads are open, there are no problems except for minor bumps on the road. While very few people visit here on weekdays, on weekends, between 3,000 and 10,000 people visit, depending on the weather.

Let's say you went there, something urgent happened. No one will be able to reach you. Let's say you went by car, your car tire burst. Imagine that you do not have a spare tire, no equipment to change a tire... While dealing with tires, it is very possible to think about whether the bear is near. There are very few bears in the area. While the baby bears approach people, the mother/father bears are content to watch what is going on from afar. If you stay there at night, if there is meat etc. in your car, when you wake up in the morning, you can see your car ruined. If you do not take the necessary precautions, many things can happen to you. If things go well, beauties that you will never see in your life will be waiting for you.

Yedek lastiğinizin, lastik değiştirecek ekipmanınızın olmadığını düşünün... Lastikle uğraşırken , ayı yakında mıdır gibi düşüncelere dalmanız çok olası. Bölgede çok az sayıda olsa da ayı var. Yavru ayılar insanlara yaklaşırken anne/baba ayılar çok uzaktan olup bitenleri izlemekle yetiniyor. Geceleyin orda konaklarsanız, arabanızın içinde et vb besin varsa sabah uyandığınızda, arabanızın pert olmuş halini görebilirsiniz. Gerekli önlemleri almadığınız takdirde başınıza bir çok olay gelabilir. İşler yolunda giderse hayatınız boyunca göremeyeceğiniz güzellikler sizi bekliyor olacak.

As you go down, the number and frequency of wild poplars increases. Wild poplars have a different appearance in each season. Especially in autumn, there are photographers who come just to capture the riot of colors scattered by the mountain poplars.

When we descended a little further, we approached the area where the steam rooms are. Since we have been there many times before, we did not choose to stop by there. There is a large and a small lake at the bottom.

After descending to the bottom, we rested for a while. Apart from soft drinks, we brought some food with us. One of our friends is pretty good at cooking. Me and a friend of mine collected the dry trees around. After our cook friend chopped the ingredients, we lit the fire.

The food would take a long time to cook. So we decided to wander around.We chose to walk to go to the big lake. We continued walking on the cobblestones accompanied by wild poplars left and right. Of course, some side roads do not have cobblestones.

After walking for about 5-6 minutes, we arrived at the big lake. Big lake, as the name suggests, is the largest lake in the caldera. Most of the people just visit this place.

There is an area for drinking tea in the big lake. There's an old uncle who takes care of this place. He says he's been here for over 40 years.

There are people who stay by the lake of Ilica. There's a little place on this side made of a shed. It is a place made of tree branches and twigs with completely natural methods. Those who wish can sit here and drink tea, water or soda.

The water of Ilıca lake is warmer than the big lake. People start swimming in this lake starting from July.

Hot water gushes out from under the water in a small area on the edge of Ilıca Lake. This indicates that the nemrut volcano has not yet extinguished. In addition, there are steam rooms towards the Ahlat district of the mountain. This concludes that the volcanic mountain does not go out and will become active after events such as earthquakes.

It was close to 19:00 and it was time to return. The worst part of the return is leaving the area of extraordinary beauty. Leaving is a little difficult. One wants to spend the night here and to wake up in the morning.

In autumn, winter and spring, this place receives so much precipitation that it is impossible not to spoil the roads. As a solution, the roads are made of cobblestone. We can say that it is a very bad choice for your vehicles. It is not a problem for off-road vehicles, but it does a lot of damage to the tires of normal cars, the front of the car.

Many vehicles stop on the way or turn around. Some of them become couples/lovers, they photograph the place and immortalize the moment. Some just stop to look around. Some are also trying to collect mushrooms.

On the way back, just as we were approaching the summit, one of our crazy friends in the group offered to go to the other side of the caldera. There were so many reasons not to go there. It was getting dark, the road was worse than the other side, it was a desolate and unfamiliar place. In fact, the most important was the fuel of the car. There was not enough fuel in the car, and if it ran out of fuel, it would be midnight before we got home. We decided to take all the risks and go.

My phone doesn't take good enough pictures when it gets dark. That's why the photos are not clear. The road is a stabilized road as it seems. The road is so narrow that in case of an oncoming vehicle, both parties may experience the deepest stress.

The left side of the road is covered with wild poplar trees. The road was getting longer and longer and never ending. After going a little further, we came across a tourist group of 4 people. I didn't take pictures of it because it wouldn't be welcome. They had two caravans and they were chatting outside by making a fire.

After passing the tourist group, we felt that our path was shortened. Tourists usually stay in the best places in such places. This side of the caldera is extraordinarily beautiful compared to the other side. It's really great to see green, blue and white in the same frame. Clean lake water, quiet, calm place. It is very difficult to find a better place to rest and renew.

After watching the surroundings for about 10 minutes, we decided to turn around. When we returned, we did not encounter any problems, except that the underside of the car touched the stones.
