The Chase

Have you ever been in a situation where you had to run with all your might because at that moment your life depended on it? Well I have lol.
It all happened years back when I was in primary school. There used to be this house on the side of the road to my school, its gates were more like burglaries and so passers-by could easily see the inside of the compound ... They had two gigantic dogs, which were mostly chained and when not chained, they ensured the gate was properly locked to prevent unforeseen circumstances. I at that time always wished i had a dog because I loved dogs so much and so whenever i was walking down to school, they always drew my attention and sometimes i ended up stopping just to look more closely at them.
So one afternoon, while I was walking home from my school, I stopped by as I always did. This time I summoned courage to go very close to the gate. I was able to see the dogs way more clearly than I used to.

I got so carried away by their height and hairy tail that I didn't notice their gate wasn't locked this time, and they were loosely held by the chain, and within a short period of time, one of the dogs charged at me and somehow got freed and came out of the gate. The moment I noticed it was out of the gate, I began to run as fast as my legs could carry me . While I was trying to get away from the dog as fast as i could, i flinged my bag away so as to be able to run faster. My heart was beating so fast, I felt like my heart was about to explode . I literally cried for help but surprisingly no one was around to help at that particular time.

I even tried to distract the dog with random things I saw on the ground but it didn't work. It felt like I had been running for an hour but it had only been thirteen minutes. I quickly climbed up a dwarf tree and screamed for help but it was hopeless. The dog was circling around the tree waiting for me to get off. Shortly after, I came up with an idea. It was risky but that seemed like the only way out at that moment so I just told myself I could do it. I jumped down from the tree and ran even faster than before, using all the strength I had left in me. I ran back to the house the dog was living in. As I reached the house I ran up the staircase and rang the doorbell. "Please open the door !!! '' I screamed. I turned to observe my surroundings because while I rushed into the compound I didn't really check to see where the second dog was and when I turned I noticed the dog which had been chasing me was still seriously after me (luckily for me the second dog was properly chained). The other dog kept getting closer and closer . It was less than 20 seconds until it reached me to tear me apart. With half a second left the owner opened the door, and immediately, i ran into the apartment before even explaining myself...the lady yelled at the dog and the dog went back to the cage which wasn't too far from the compound's gate i then tried to explain while also trying to catch my breath i guess she already knew what had happened lol she gave me little water to drink and shortly after that i told her i wanted to go but then i was really scared to go outside even though she offered to be by my side while i left the compound. After some time I summoned courage to follow her out of the compound "My dogs are very friendly, they just wanted to play with you " she said 😂😂.

I honestly didn't believe that because that dog chased me and barked like it was ready to tear me apart she also told me to come visit her once in a while at least to say hello to her dogs ....well, i told her i will even though i knew quite well i had already made up my mind never to come close to her gate again lol as soon as I left the compound I ran as fast as I could and of course not forgetting to look for my bag😂 still in a state of surprise. Funny enough, even weeks after that incident, I still always ran whenever I wanted to pass the compound lol😂.

Thanks for reading 😄❤️.

Aren't you just an all-star?! I feel bad that you made me laugh, but seriously:

"My dogs are very friendly, they just wanted to play with you "

Good grief. I am glad you escaped, how terrifying! It was quick thinking to knock on her door, otherwise you may have been in the tree all day!

Thank you for sharing your story with us, it was a wonderful read!
