Journey to Ban Khai District, Rayong, Thailand.
Another beautiful weekend in Thailand and this weekend, I decided to hire myself a Ford Ranger pick-up truck which was going to cost me $30 US per/day with full insurance, it was the most convenient way to drive myself and my friend to the district of Bah Khai been 350km from the city of Pattaya to his home in Bah Khai which is a province of Rayong. He had not seen his parents for a little while so we decided to take the opportunity of the sunny weekend to visit his parents and at the same time, I would be able see the way, Thai country people live and work in the country side.
In Thailand going to most province's diving out of a city it doesn't take long before you realize you are amongst rice field paddy's and rivers you just automatically switch from the city life to country life and start enjoying the freshness and natural beauty of all this beautiful flat open land with rice fields stretching as far as your eye can see.

Ban Khai district was created as a province of Rayong, in the early 1902 and today only has a population of just over 7,000 people were as Rayong been the main province has a population of 60,000 people, Rayong is known as a industrial city mainly for car manufacturing but is also a city of many beautiful beaches and great seafood restaurants.
Getting closer to my friends home in Bah Kahi district the Temples is also the first thing that stands out in any province you enter in Thailand they will always have a few smaller Temples and then the main Temple for the people of the district to visit and give there offerings to the Monks and do the merits. Temples, I always find fascinating to look at, there is just some much detailed work that goes into these Temples they always leave me in awe.

Every Temple, I have seen here in Thailand so far are all unique and not one the same all done in there our style according to the history of the province and the people of the province and are always kept tidy with beautifully manicured gardens.

Temples are regarded as there most respected and holy grounds been a Buddhist country these people have a very respectful dedication to there religion no matter where you are in Thailand you will see Thai people praying and giving offering to there Gods and, I really love seeing this way of culture it always makes me feel at peace just walking in or around temple grounds.

After my friend paying his respects at one of the Temples we headed of to his house which he told me was further along over the other side of this river and we had to cross over this old wooden bridge to get to his house on the side of the river, hearing this and looking around me, I knew I was in real Thai country village now and getting excited to see there way of living.

Getting safety across this wooden bridge which, I thought we wouldn't make it across by looking at the condition of this wooden bridge he was laughing at my expressions on my face but he obviously he has done it many times and had no fear he knew it was safe his house was about 2km down along the river from the bridge, driving into his parents dirt driveway to his house, he pointed out his parents house in the distance and then asked him all this land along this long driveway does it belong to your parents and he said yes, this was a huge property.

We had left Pattaya city a little after mid-day and in between our stops at the Temples we arrived at his house just on sunset a perfect time to be driving down this driveway seeing this colorful sunset shining of all the palm and coconut trees that lined the driveway to his parents house, it was a spectacular scenery.

His parents made a living from this 30 acres of farm land by growing rice, oil palm trees and lotus flowers in front of the house was all there rice paddy fields and behind there house was a huge swamp lake with all there lotus flowers growing and in between and around were there palm trees and coconut trees a really nice and profitable set up and the whole area was just so lush green and peaceful out in this beautiful country side of Thailand.
The lotus flowers in Thailand are not only associated with Buddhism as a offering to the Temples as good luck and good fortune, it is also a edible flower used in many Thai dishes and also compounds are extracted from this lotus flower for medicines in helping with blood circulation and digestive system, so this came to my understanding why they were growing so many lotus flowers and they look pretty. Was not only a enjoyable trip but got to learn about lotus farming.

This was such an amazing look at the culture, including the Buddhist Temples, a huge and major feature in their culture. I actually admire a country run like this, it gives the people peace in their soul, whether you believe it or not, it is a feeling that permeates the space.
It must have been so nice to get out into the countryside like that, it sure is a different lifestyle far and away from the city, isn't it? I think that you know you live a charmed life right now, and, even before Covid. You have a grateful heart and I believe that this introduction and living that you have been doing in Thailand is well deserved. So, I am happy for you. You bring my and all my readers' great joy with your posts, not only for #MarketFriday but, all week long. Thank you. I love the concept of #MarketFriday and how our cultures differ and then again, how much they are alike. Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages. Along with the fact of what is normal for where you live? these are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I had hoped that posting here will familiarize you with the world around you just a little bit more. Viewing it from a more personal level as opposed to the newsworthy level gives me a better understanding of the people and a view that is often not seen on National television.

You are so right there culture with the Buddhism religion some how makes you feel welcomed and at peace when you enter any Thai home or Temple and I can get use to this quite easily it will be hard for me to go back to my home country which, I am very much debating about that now.
