Phetchaburi Day-Night Markets, Thailand.
(Edited)
Last week while we were down the south of Thailand in the city of Hua Hin we were told that there was a Wednesday day and night market in the town of Phetchaburi about 8km from the resort we were staying at so we had decided not to eat that day and save our appetite for this market as we were told the best of Thai foods could be enjoyed there, either take away home or sit by the park on a rug and enjoy by the market and if you needed more food the market was just across the road.
In the time, I have been in Thailand, I have been to a few markets but only smaller ones to buy some fruits and veggies, I was told this market was going to be like going to a Thai food festival and I was indeed looking forward to this occasion, here we were going to see the real Thai culture foods from many provinces and first up we came across all the spicy seafood that you could eat crabs, prawns, shells and many more guaranteed to burn you pants off or dress :)
These markets are mainly for the Thai locals but you do see a lots of expats wandering around with there wife's or girlfriends. Phetchaburi is normally a quiet town but on Wednesday when this market opens this part of town comes alive a huge variety of stalls are set up and the vendors are offering everything imaginable not only foods.
Insect and Bugs great proteins.
Pork and Beef with lemon grass, lime leaves and spices.
Select your own ingredients for a spicy mushroom soup.
Seafood omelette for less the one dollar US.
As we know Thailand is very famous for there stick foods and you have many choices for the meat lovers and vegetarian's and here, I saw just about every stick food imaginable.
And if you wanted the extra large Pork, Chicken or Beef balls on the stick spicy or not spicy it was also here the size of almost tennis balls almost
Three extra large meat balls on the stick for only 60c US
Barbecued pork ribs, barbecued pork, barbecued and fried chicken, barbecued sausages, it was all here luckily, I didn't eat and saved my appetite for these markets but only if, I could try them all and that was going to be impossible.
They even had fried and barbecue squid, fish, calamari and other species on the sticks that, I couldn't even tell you what they are but all looked delicious.
Then comes some of my favorite dishes that, I love in Thailand the curry chicken penang, basil chicken and beef ball curry these are just some that I love.
Can't leave without taking some Sushi home 10 pieces for $3 US what a bargain and they were very tasty.
Chicken, Beef or Lamb kebabs anyone.
Macaroni and Spaghetti on the run.
Then comes the variety of Thai fruits, vegetables and herbs that you can take home at very low prices that you couldn't even imagine, this section, I like cause, I love my fruits.
Dried Crunchy Pork Chips.
Ahhhhh....sweet, sweet donuts all different flavored jams 5 donuts of your choice for only 60c US.
These markets are actually not set up for tourist attraction but mainly for local Thai people but it's certainly a great experience as a traveler to be wandering through these markets you can get to see many of the local produce and products all in one venue.
These markets are not just about food, fruits or veggies there is electronics to cosmetics, shoes to shoulder bags, many varieties of clothing, flowers, goldfish, performers trying to earn a couple of dollars and even some great second hand stuff like Vinyl, CD's and second hand tools of all sorts.
If you really want to see a market with, not so many foreigners and enjoy the atmosphere of the locals this is the market to come to, I really enjoyed it and the food, I tasted and ate was real Thai local food straight from grandma's kitchen.

Wwoww! Make me craving 🤤, definitely nothing can beat the street food in Asia, I love the vibe of the open market, just buy food and enjoy it while carrying it around the market!
You are so right @hknauy the vibes are great and the food is even better, I never know what to eat first, I just want it all :)
I cannot believe it ate my post! Boo! I absolutely could have eaten this post myself! It was incredibly delicious! A wonderful #MarketFriday post!
I love the concept of #MarketFriday and how our cultures differ and then again, how much they are alike. Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages. Along with the fact of what is normal for where you live? these are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I had hoped that posting here will familiarize you with the world around you just a little bit more. Viewing it from a more personal level as opposed to the newsworthy level gives me a better understanding of the people and a view that is often not seen on National television.
I appreciate the amazing support given to #MarketFriday! Thank you! Your participation adds a piece of your world, and I have to say, people are interested in seeing it. This entire challenge has opened up the world to me and so many others. Thank you again for being a part of all this! I am so happy to see you here! I hope you have a fabulous day! Hive on!!
Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!
