Darkness, My Ally

Lurking blindly in the dark,
Is the shadow of a lost child
She walked, stumbling into unseen objects,
Each pain reflected deep within
Endured in silence Her eyes were open-
Yet she was blinded by darkness

She sought foolishly for answers,
Answers she didn't know truly existed,
With her blinded eyes,
She scraped her knees as she crawled,
Swept her palms along the ground,
Searching for a way-
As if she might actually find one.

She never turned her back,
Not once did she think of it,
She looked forward,
And faced each new challenge.

She never stood up,
Nor wore a face of grief,
She was full of hope,
And yet endured the pain.

Sometimes she noticed her wounds and cried,
Then she continued on,
As if she never knew they were there.

Every trail she left behind was never forgotten
The darkness-her greatest enemy-
Was also her greatest ally

She was never forgotten by the ground,
Upon which she crawled,
Her dried blood on its surface,
Left a deep story,
One the soil would live to remember.

Well penned. Sometimes, the most unfavorable environments help us in our journey. The most important thing is to find healing..
