The Many Faces of Life

Everything is just for a while; therefore, we should not think too much about life and forget ourselves. One thing I know for sure is that there is no way we will walk through life without shaking our heads at one point or another. It is just part of life to face challenges. One thing I have always prayed for is not to have problems that are beyond my capability. Although there are times when it feels like someone should give up, that is just how life can be. There is a saying that the more you look, the less you see. It is one of the things that is so true about life.

The truth is that no one is beyond predicaments, and whether we like it or not, it is something we are all bound to experience, whether at work or anywhere else in the world. Has there been anyone who has not faced one challenge or another in life? Maybe not everyone is open about what they are going through, but if anyone says they have never had challenges, I would say that is not true because life can humble anyone, no matter how rich or powerful they are. It is only a matter of time.

There is a saying in my locality that goes, “No one is beyond temptation, but no one ever prays for a temptation that may cost them beyond their imagination.” It is just what it is.

That is why we really need to be our brother’s keeper. If you can help someone, never mock their predicament. It is one thing that many people do not seem to understand. Some people capitalise on the fact that you have problems and then use them to their advantage.

I often hear people say, “Is it his or her problem? He or she should face it squarely,” forgetting that their own time is coming. No matter how smart you think you are, you can never outsmart destiny.

We should always be grateful and never think we are all in all. Never look down on anyone. There is a saying that a moving person is a success in the making.

I have seen people who work tirelessly yet go home with nothing and little to show for it, and I have also seen people who work moderately and yet have everything figured out. No one is an island, and you can never tell what life has in store for you.

Be humble, and always remember that if life throws honey your way today, do not think it will last forever. Just enjoy it while it lasts. Nothing, and absolutely nothing, is permanent in this life.

Today again, something happened to one of my goats. I do not know whether it was poisoned or something else came over it, but I realised that it was fighting for its life. It was really heartbreaking, and I did not know what to say or do. I usually keep my goats in a pen and feed them, but this particular one always jumped out of the pen I made for them to look for a female to mate with. It is just what it is. These are some of the difficulties that come with life.

Someone told me not to think too much about it because I could never know what it truly meant that it happened that way. Someone even claimed that some terrible things that could have happened to a person might be averted through such an incident. That is an African belief anyway. It has never been scientifically proven, but African superstitions are widespread and sometimes seem to be true. Life can be so complicated that you begin to wonder what you can really make of it. It is just one of those things. Life goes on, and we cannot kill ourselves over it.

So, I decided to slaughter it and see whether the meat could still be eaten, since whatever affected it might not have spread to the rest of its body.
