What Is Our World Turning Into?

What is this world turning into? It is crazy to see unspeakable things happening. I don’t want to say they are new, since I believe there is nothing under the sun that is entirely new anymore, except perhaps what is no longer in existence or what we have never seen, heard, or felt bothered by.

How can a reasonable human being mate with a goat? I have also seen and heard about humans, especially females, having sex with dogs or allowing dogs to have sex with them. It is a shame and a ridiculous thing to hear about. This life is just what it is, and it is crazy out there.

At times, when I look at what is happening around us, one cannot help but wonder if this life is coming to an end or what could possibly make a teenager have it in mind to sleep with a goat. A goat, for that matter. What could be the reason behind it? Could it be some kind of spiritual plague or what? I don’t believe it is ordinary.

I have been hearing about Fulani people mating with their cows, but I had never experienced or seen anyone doing it myself. This time, however, I was able to see such an act with my own eyes, and I couldn’t believe it. It is crazy out there.

What I had in mind to write today was not really about this. I have always wanted to share my thoughts about the rate at which the new generation seems to have lost its way. It is as if there is no remedy whatsoever.

If you talk about work, many young people don’t want to do it, especially if it is difficult work or the pay is not that much to start with. You will hear something like, “What can it do for me? It can’t even buy my body cream, let alone take care of my needs.” It is sad.

Another aspect is the influence of crime and drug abuse, which are very rampant nowadays. Some young adults no longer see them as anything serious. They take them as normal things, and the funny thing is that both boys and girls now engage in them and have even found pleasure in them.

Not long ago, I was privileged to board the same vehicle with one of our bosses in the ministry, and we talked about what the future could hold for the younger generation. When you look at the number of schoolchildren we have, what will they be doing in the present and in the future? When you look at it closely, you will realise that there is no clear plan for them. The government does not even seem to provide a reasonable or enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

It is just so sad. Many businesses have already packed up and left the country. What seems to be thriving are hotels, clubhouses, and religious institutions.

I don’t like speaking against the growth of the church, but I think there should be some form of regulation when religious institutions become too many. Too much of anything may not necessarily be good.

I don’t always like having anything to do with religion or speaking against it. Maybe if the government were doing enough, everything would not have become like this. Our leaders have a lot to do in this regard, but I don’t think they are ready to do anything.

How can we measure development in terms of GDP without it being reflected in the quality of life and economic prosperity of the citizens? How can the masses be living in abject poverty while we say we are developing because the GDP is rising? Is that not crazy to say?

I don’t even want to know or concern myself with all the World Bank terms and economic terms used to describe whether the economy of a nation is booming or growing when there is no evidence of that growth in the lives of the populace.

It is just what it is.

Maybe, just maybe, the world is coming to an end soon. It is just that we have been hearing about this for a long time, and we have never seen it happen.
