Nestled along the picturesque Curonian Spit in Lithuania, the Dunes of Parnidis stand tall as a testament to the incredible power and beauty of nature. Rising from the golden shores of the Baltic Sea, these enchanting sand dunes create a unique landscape that has captivated visitors for centuries.


The Dunes of Parnidis are part of the Curanion Spit National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Stretching over 98 kolometers, this narrow strip of land separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea, forming a natural barrier that shelters an array of diverse ecosystems.


At the heart of the Dunes of Parnidis lies the magnificent Parnidis Dune, which stand as the tallest dune in the Curonian Spit, reaching an impressive height of 52 meters above sea level. Its commanding presence offers visitors a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape.


The Big Dune or Gliders Dune, which has earned its name due to its popalary among glider pilots. Dunes got the name Gliders because of here in 1933-1939 funkctioning gliding school, which was the main summer camp site for Lithuanian gliders.
