[ENG/ESP] Trip to Tarará Beach: Another dream come true

It seems that over the years several dreams are coming true for me and today I bring you another adventure because one of the most desired trips for me has just been consummated: I have traveled to Tarará Beach in Havana, Cuba.

This is one of the most famous beaches in Cuba because, among other things, it welcomed a group of children who came from Ukraine to heal the wounds suffered in their country after a tragic accident.

In its beginnings it did not provide services for the entire population and, in spite of the desire and desire to share its goodness, it was impossible for us to reach its shores due to the distance from the province where we lived.
In 1975 it became a pioneer's palace and several children from all over the country used to go there, especially during their vacations.

Another element that makes it famous is the quality of its waters and the whiteness of its sand.
For these reasons we decided to accept an invitation and, with two of my wife's nephews, we headed for this adventure of sun and beach.

Tarará Beach

This beach became a camp for children and in 1990 it hosted a group of Ukrainian children who suffered the effects of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, a nuclear power plant that in 1986 suffered an accident that is catalogued as the biggest in history.

This beach is located in the east of Havana, the Cuban capital, and for some years it has been providing several services to our population and is considered the best beach in Havana.

It had always been a dream to bathe in its waters, but it had not been possible. However, as the best things happen, this one came without warning, through an invitation made by some friends.

The trip, the protagonists, the logistics and more

When my wife told one of her nephews that we were going to Tarará, he couldn't believe it, but, one who is not a child either. That was me who was happier than the nephew about the news.

It would be a 4 person trip, my wife, two nephews and me. After we knew the date and the members of the group, we were looking for the logistics to have the best day possible. In spite of providing all kinds of services, we decided to bring our own food and what we were going to consume, so that the trip would be more economical.

After having everything ready, the transportation appeared and we headed to our tourist destination.

Handles, beach, beers

When we arrived at the place we were amazed because to enter they gave you a handle like in the all-inclusive hotels, which guaranteed tranquility on the beach and access to all the services of the facility...

In spite of carrying a case of beer, we were amazed to see that beer is sold on the beach and the existence of several barrels made us dispel the doubts we had about the possibility of running out of this wonderful liquid.

Upon entering the beach, we marveled at the organization and cleanliness of the place. We were shown around the most emblematic areas and we could read on the signs the services provided and a brief description of the site, its origin and other aspects of interest.

After that, we moved on to look for a spot where we could find our bearings. Then, a funny thing happened because my wife's nephew, the youngest, ran out and ran into the beach. My wife, the other nephew and the writer could only manage to laugh out loud and enjoy the joy of this child who only left the beach when he was hungry.

In the meantime, we managed to get comfortable in an umbrella that sheltered us from the sun and allowed us to be close to the shore and enjoy the view it offered.

Then my wife began to organize things and prepare the snack and the oldest nephew and I took the opportunity to cool the beers in the plastic cooler that we brought with us, so that the beer would keep its temperature cold. In addition, this cooler helped us to have access to ice and drink cold water to mitigate the high temperatures.

Activities

In addition to the activities of bathing on the beach, we carried out physical activities, playful games and fraternized with other national tourists. It is nice to see how Cubans are able to share without hardly knowing each other, this is something that characterizes us and makes us special beings.

Another of the activities we did was to listen to music and throw our halls.

Farewell

At about 5:30 in the afternoon we left the beach. At that hour the water was like not to go out and stay in it, but the transport arrived to pick us up and we could make two decisions: Stay or go. If we stayed, we ran the risk of arriving late at night due to the distance and location of the transport. Leaving deprived us of the best time on the beach, but guaranteed us to get home early and in the most comfortable way possible.
Besides, we had already had enough fun.

A final comment

2024 has granted me two dreams fulfilled and, I hope they are not the only ones. Both have been consummated when I had practically lost all hope and weighed that I would not enjoy these pleasures.

In this case, the experience was wonderful, but what I enjoyed most was the joy of my wife's youngest nephew and the shared happiness of all.

Una introducción necesaria

Al parecer, con el pasar de los años se me están haciendo realidad varios sueños y hoy les traigo otra aventura porque uno de los viajes más anhelados por mí acaba de ser consumado: He viajado a la Playa Tarará, en la Habana, Cuba.

Esta es una de las playas más célebres de Cuba porque, entre otras cosas, acogió a un grupo de niños que vinieron desde Ucrania a restañar las heridas sufridas en su país tras un trágico accidente.

En sus inicios no brindaba servicios para toda la población y, a pesar de las ganas y deseos de compartir sus bondades nos era imposible llegar a sus costas por la lejanía respecto a la provincia donde vivíamos.
En el año 1975 se convirtió en un palacio de pioneros y, varios niños del país asistían, sobre todo, en etapa vacacional.

Otro de los elementos que la hace célebre es la calidad de sus aguas y la blancura de su arena.
Por tales razones decidimos aceptar una invitación y, con dos sobrinos de mi esposa, nos fuimos rumbo a esta aventura de sol y playa.

La playa Tarará

Esta playa se convirtió en un campamento para niños y en 1990 acogió a un grupo de infantes ucranianos que sufrieron los efectos del desastre nuclear de Chernóbil, una central nuclear que en el año 1986 sufrió un accidente que es catalogado, como el más grande de la historia.

Esta playa se encuentra en el este de la Habana, capital cubana, desde hace algunos años presta varios servicios a nuestra población y es considerada la mejor playa del balneario habanero.

Siempre había sido un sueño bañarnos en sus aguas, pero no nos había sido posible. Sin embargo, como suceden las mejores cosas, esta llegó sin avisar, por medio de una invitación realizada por unas amistades.

El viaje, los protagonistas, la logística y más

Cuando mi esposa le dijo a uno de sus sobrinos que iríamos a Tarará no lo podía creer, pero, uno que no es niño ni mucho menos tampoco. Ese era yo que estaba más contento que el sobrino por la noticia.

Sería un viaje de 4 personas, mi esposa, dos sobrinos y yo. Después de saber la fecha y los integrantes nos dedicamos a buscar la logística para pasar un día lo mejor posible. A pesar de brindar servicios de todo tipo decidimos llevar nuestra alimentación y lo que íbamos a consumir, para que el viaje nos saliera más económico.

Después de tener todo listo apareció el transporte y nos dirigimos a nuestro destino turístico.

Manillas, playa, cervezas

Cuando llegamos al lugar quedamos maravillados porque para entrar te ponían una manilla como en los hoteles todo incluido, lo que garantizaba tranquilidad en la playa y acceso a todos los servicios de la instalación..

A pesar de llevar una caja de cerveza nos maravilló ver que en la playa se vende cerveza dispensada y la existencia de varios toneles nos hicieron disipar las dudas que llevábamos por la posibilidad de quedarnos sin ese líquido maravilloso.

Al entrar a la playa nos maravilló la organización y limpieza del lugar. Nos pasearon por los espacios más emblemáticos y pudimos leer en los carteles los servicios que se brindan y una reseña sobre el sitio, su surgimiento y otros aspectos de interés.

Después de ese momento nos trasladamos a buscar un punto donde ubicarnos. A continuación, sucedió un hecho gracioso porque el sobrino de mi esposa, el más pequeño, salió corriendo y se metió dentro de la playa. Mi esposa, el otro sobrino y quien escribe solamente atinamos a reírnos a carcajadas y disfrutar de la alegría de ese niño que solo salió de la playa cada vez que tuvo hambre.

Mientras tanto, nosotros logramos acomodarnos en una sombrilla que nos cobijaba del sol y nos permitía estar cerca de la orilla y poder disfrutar de la vista que esta ofrecía.

Acto seguido mi esposa comenzó a organizar las cosas y preparar la merienda y el sobrino mayor y yo aprovechamos y nos pusimos a enfriar las cervezas en la nevera plástica que llevamos, para que la cerveza mantuviera su temperatura fría. Además, esta nevera nos sirvió para tener acceso al hielo y tomar el agua fría y mitigar las altas temperaturas existentes.

Actividades realizadas

Además de las actividades de baños en la playa, realizamos actividades físicas, juegos lúdicos y confraternizamos con otros turistas nacionales. Es lindo ver cómo los cubanos somos capaces de compartir sin apenas conocernos, esto es algo que nos caracteriza y nos hace seres especiales.

Otra de las actividades realizada fue escuchar música y tirar nuestros pasillos.

Despedida

Sobre las cinco y treinta de la tarde salimos de la playa. A esa hora el agua estaba como para no salir y quedarse en ella, pero el transporte llegó a recogernos y podíamos tomar dos decisiones: Quedarnos o irnos. Si nos quedábamos corríamos el riesgo de llegar tarde en la noche por la lejanía y situación del transporte. Irnos nos privaba de la mejor hora de la playa, pero nos garantizaba llegar a casa temprano y de la manera más cómoda posible.
Además, ya habíamos disfrutado bastante.

Un comentario final

2024 me ha concedido dos sueños cumplidos y, espero que no sean los únicos. Ambos se han consumado cuando prácticamente había perdido toda esperanza y pesaba que no disfrutaría de esos placeres.

En este caso, la experiencia fue maravillosa, pero, lo que más disfruté fue la alegría del sobrino menor de mi esposa y la felicidad compartida de todos.
