[ESP/ENG] Nuggets de Denver vs Heat de Miami: Radiografía para una final

Ha llegado el momento esperado y en el que quisieran estar todos los equipos, pero de los treinta equipos que conforman la Asociación Nacional de Baloncesto de los Estados Unidos (NBA), sólo dos pudieron abrirse camino y ganar sus respectivas conferencias, para discutir por el Anillo de la NBA.

Estos equipos tuvieron un rendimiento diferente y llegaron a la final cumpliendo los pronósticos en un caso y pasando por encima de apuestas, lógica deportiva y criterios de especialistas en la otra.

En esta publicación el autor hará un análisis sobre la actuación de ambos equipos durante la temporada regular y en cada uno de los tres play off realizados, antes de llegar a la discusión de uno de los trofeos más anhelados en el deporte internacional. De igual manera y como es costumbre, el autor dará su criterio en torno al resultado final, teniendo siempre presente lo que acostumbra a decir: esto es deporte y el favoritismo y los títulos se ganan no se merecen.

Los Denver Nuggets y su juego en la Fase Regular

Este fue el equipo dominante de la Conferencia Oeste demostrando que lo realizado en la etapa de play off no fue casualidad, sino el resultado de un trabajo que comienza a rendir sus frutos. En esta etapa mostraron varios elementos que han sido comentados por este autor y otros que pone a su consideración:

•Fue el primer equipo de la Conferencia Oeste en clasificar.

•Fue el cuarto equipo de toda la NBA en ganar más juegos en esta fase y el primero de su conferencia.

•Mostró un dominio en la mayoría de los duelos particulares sostenidos contra los equipos de las dos conferencias.

•Jugando como locales alcanzaron una gran de victorias, mientras que como visitantes supieron sortear los compromisos y tener un balance más o menos positivo.

•Nicola Jokic comandó al equipo, pero no tuvieron una jokicdependencia porque el protagonismo fue del equipo en su conjunto.

En este play off fueron favoritos y no decepcionaron a su público ni a los especialistas. A pesar de perder un juego nunca tuvieron en peligro la clasificación y dominaron la serie a placer en 5 juegos, con un cómodo 4 a 1.

Denver Nuggets vs. Phoenix Suns

Ni Kevin Duran, Chris Paul o Deandre Ayton se interpusieron en el camino de los Nuggets. Es cierto que los Suns tenían un mejor equipo, con jugadores acostumbrados a jugar en este tipo de serie, pero la fortaleza del juego y la integralidad de Nikola Jokic y compañía echó por tierra el esfuerzo de los Phoenix Suns que se vieron superados en seis juegos, con un aplastante 4 a 2.

Este era el reto mayor del equipo de Colorado, pues no sólo se estaban enfrentando a uno de los jugadores históricos de la NBA respaldado por un gran equipo; sino, que estarían enfrentando al equipo que en tres ocasiones les había ganado en finales de conferencia impidiendo que estos ganaran la conferencia y el derecho a discutir el anillo de la NBA, algo que nunca han logrado.

A pesar del resultado se debe destacar que fue serie peleada de principio a fin, pero en honor a la verdad los de Denver tuvieron el control de las acciones y pudieron limitar las embestidas de los Lakers en cada uno de los cuatro juegos que efectuaron y que salieron victoriosos.

En la victoria de 4 a 0 destacó la jerarquía de Denver, su juego colectivo y el saberse un equipo superior que podía hacer historia y ganar la Conferencia Oeste por primera vez en la competición.

Si algo hay que apuntar de este equipo en la Fase Regular es que el equipo no tuvo un buen torneo regular, máxime para un equipo que en la temporada anterior había quedado subcampeón de la Conferencia Este perdiendo en el séptimo juego contra los Celtic de Boston.

No clasificar entre los seis primeros le obligó a buscar su cupo para los play off en una eliminatoria denominada play off –In y allí logró el último cupo de su conferencia. A pesar de lo anterior el equipo supo manejar la situación mostrando en esta fase algunos elementos de interés. Entre los más importantes:

•El liderazgo de Jimmy Butler, para comandar al equipo y llevarlo a puerto seguro

•El aporte ofensivo de algunos jugadores que no son titulares

•La combinación entre veteranos y jugadores noveles le permitió un sistema de rotación al cuerpo técnico que dio resultados en algunos compases de la competencia.

•La capacidad de su director técnico para sacar al equipo de los momentos complicados y llevarlos a la clasificación.

Play off de Cuartos de Final de la Conferencia Este

Para este play off los Heat de Miami se enfrentaron al mejor equipo de la Fase Regular y no eran considerados como favoritos por casi ningún analista. A la irregularidad de los Heat se sumaba el hecho de estar jugando contra el equipo más sólido, con más victorias en la fase regular y que había dominado a placer la conferencia Este.

Pero los Miami no sólo echaron por tierra todos los vaticinios en su contra, sino que lo hicieron de una manera clara y arrolladora y dejaron en el camino a los Buck de Giannis Antetokounmpo por un sonado 4 a 1.

Con esta victoria lanzaban su candidatura para el próximo duelo y lo que venía por delante.

Los New York Knicks habían dejado en el camino a los Cleveland por 4 a 1 y habían tenido una mejor temporada que sus rivales de Miami, pero estos venían dispuestos a eliminar a sus adversarios y se impusieron en seis juegos con un contundente 4 a 2. Esta victoria les significaba igualar la actuación del año anterior y los ponía en condiciones de luchar por el título de conferencia que lo lucharían contra el equipo que los había derrotado en la temporada anterior en esa misma instancia.

En esta conferencia se realizó la misma final de conferencia del año anterior. La final tuvo puntos coincidentes y divergentes respecto al año anterior. Dos ejemplos:
•Al igual que el año anterior la decisión de la conferencia se extendió hasta el séptimo juego.
•Pero, el campeón no fue el mismo, pues en esta ocasión los de Miami ganaron el juego 7 evitando que les remontaran un 3 a 0 que tenían y que se hubiese convertido en el primero de la historia de la competición.

Cuatro fortalezas de los Denver Nuggets para enfrentar la final

•Tienen un mayor fondo físico que su rival y si se van a un sexto o séptimo juego esto puede serles favorable.

•El liderazgo de Nikola Jokic y su jerarquía en la duela.

•Tienen un equipo titular más sólido y muy alto que puede ser un elemento defensivo y de ataque a su favor

•El estado de forma del equipo y el estímulo que representa luchar por su primer título de conferencia.

In this stage they showed several elements that have been commented by this author and others that he puts to your consideration:

• They were the fourth team in the entire NBA to win the most games in this phase and the first in their conference.

• They showed dominance in most of the particular duels held against the teams of the two conferences.

• Playing at home they achieved a large number of victories, while as visitors they were able to overcome the commitments and have a more or less positive balance.

This was the biggest challenge for the Colorado team, because not only were they facing one of the NBA's historic players backed by a great team, but they would be facing the team that had beaten them three times in conference finals, preventing them from winning the conference and the right to discuss the NBA ring, something they have never achieved.

Despite the result, it should be noted that it was a hard-fought series from start to finish, but in all honesty, Denver had control of the actions and was able to limit the Lakers' onslaught in each of the four games they played and came out victorious.

In the 4-0 victory, Denver's hierarchy, their collective play and the knowledge that they were a superior team that could make history and win the Western Conference for the first time in the competition stood out.

If there is something to note about this team in the Regular Season, it is that the team did not have a good regular tournament, especially for a team that in the previous season had finished runner-up in the Eastern Conference, losing in the seventh game against the Boston Celtics.

In addition to the Heat's inconsistency, they were playing against the most solid team, with the most wins in the regular phase and who had dominated the Eastern Conference at will.

But the Miami not only threw all the predictions against them to the ground, but they did it in a clear and overwhelming way and left Giannis Antetokounmpo's Bucks on the road by a resounding 4 to 1.

The New York Knicks had left Cleveland 4-1 on the road and had had a better season than their rivals from Miami, but they were ready to eliminate their opponents and won in six games with a resounding 4-2 victory. This victory meant that they equaled the performance of the previous year and put them in a position to fight for the conference title, which they would fight against the team that had defeated them in the previous season in the same instance.
