This great film tells the story of a young man Robin Cavendish (Andrew Garfield) who falls in love with a beautiful young woman Diana (Claire Foy), who comes from a wealthy family. She was like people said "out of his league" but they ended falling in love and they got married, everything was great ay first but suddenly Robin got sick with polio, and as a consequence of that disease he can only move his head and neck, the rest of his body was paralyzed, and he was only 28 when that happened. He only wants to die, but she refuses. Will they be able to be happy? Will their love overcome everything? How this is gonna end?

Esta gran película cuenta la historia de un joven Robin Cavendish (Andrew Garfield) que se enamora de una hermosa joven Diana (Claire Foy), que proviene de una familia adinerada. Ella estaba como la gente decía "fuera de su alcance" pero terminaron enamorándose y se casaron, todo fue genial al principio, pero de repente Robin se enferma de polio y como consecuencia de esa enfermedad solo puede mover la cabeza y el cuello, el resto de su cuerpo quedó paralizado, y solo tenía 28 años cuando eso sucedió. Él sólo quiere morir, pero ella se niega. ¿Serán capaces de ser felices? ¿Su amor lo superará todo? ¿Cómo acabará esto?

I had to admit that I'm not really into love stories, they aren't my style, but I'm glad I decided to watched this particular movie. As everyone knows I do not like to know anything about the movie I'm about to watch because I'm very intuitive and I ended up predicting the whole story, that's why I avoid doing that, and as I mentioned a moment ago I'm not really into this genre, so when I got this film in my hands it took me I while to watched it, and I had to admit it was all because of the male protagonist. Andrew Garfield is a great actor, but in this movie the female actress was my favorite.

Tengo que admitir que no me gustan mucho las historias de amor, no son mi estilo, pero me alegro de haber decidido ver esta película en particular. Como todo el mundo sabe no me gusta saber nada de la película que voy a ver porque soy muy intuitivo y acababa prediciendo toda la historia, por eso evito hacerlo, y como he mencionado hace un momento no me gusta mucho este género, así que cuando tuve esta película en mis manos tardé en verla, y tengo que admitir que todo fue por el protagonista masculino. Andrew Garfield es un gran actor, pero en esta película la actriz femenina fue mi favorita.

I honestly don't remember if I had ever seen this actress before, her face rang a bell from somewhere, but I still don't remember it, the point is that the character Diana is the driving force of the story, everything indicated that the most reasonable thing to do was to throw in the towel, but our protagonist never does. Her love for Robin is so big that they really achieve great things together, all thanks to her tireless love, plus her unwavering strength and determination. She is simply a woman who refuses to conform, and is definitely not afraid to follow her heart and do what she believes is right.

Honestamente no recuerdo si había visto a esa actriz anteriormente, su rostro me sonaba de algún lado, pero aún todavía no lo recuerdo, el punto es que el personaje Diana es el motor de la historia, todo indicaba que lo más rasonable era tirar la toalla, pero nuestra protagonista jamás lo hace. Su amor por Robin es tan grande que realmente logran cosas grandiosas juntos, todo gracias a su incansable amor, además de su inquebrantable fortaleza y determinación. Es simplemente una mujer que se rehúsa a conformarse, y definitivamente no tiene miedo de seguir a su corazón y hacer lo que ella cree que es correcto.

On the other hand there is the protagonist Robin, a guy who was constantly on the move and suddenly starts to feel sick and overnight is useless as unpleasant and harsh as it sounds, he went from doing everything and travelling to being confined to a hospital bed, surrounded by people who were just as bad or worse off than him. He gave up very easily, all he wanted was the situation to end, and all he could think about was dying, because there was no hope for people with his condition.

Por otro lado esta el protagonista Robin, un sujeto que estaba constantemente en movimiento y de pronto empieza a sentirse mal y de la noche a la mañana queda inútil por más desagradable y duro que suene, paso de estar haciendo de todo y viajar a estar confinado a una cama de hospital, rodeado por personas que estaban igual o peor que él. Se rindió muy fácilmente, todo lo que quería era que esa situación se acabara y en lo único que pensaba era en morir, pues no había esperanza para las personas con su condición.

This story takes place in 1945, which is why technology was not as advanced as it is today and paralysed people only had the option of looking at the ceiling and sideways, at the doctors, nurses and relatives who came to see them if they were lucky, in short, the same faces every day, doing the same thing EVERY day which was practically nothing, as they could hardly move, that is, the nurses and doctors did everything for them in order to make them comfortable; just thinking about it I'm sure I would have acted just like Robin, very hard to imagine that we were lucky enough to have someone like Diana.

Esta historia se desarrolla en el año 1945, por esto mismo la tecnología no estaba como en la actualidad y las personas paralíticas solo tenían la opción de mirar el techo y para los lados, a los doctores, las enfermeras y los familiares que iban a verlos si tenían suerte, en resumen, las mismas caras todos los días, haciendo lo mismo TODOS los días que prácticamente no era nada, pues a duras penas podían moverse, es decir, las enfermeras y doctores hacían todo por ellos con el fin de que estuvieran cómodos; de solo pensarlo estoy seguro que hubiera actuado igual que Robin, muy difícil imaginar que corríamos con la suerte de contar con alguien como Diana.

This is one of those stories that show that anything is possible, not only if you set your mind to it and put your heart into it, but that the chances of success, however slim they may be, will increase if you count on someone unconditionally, in every sense of the word. There is no other way to describe this story, it's simply inspiring, both Diana and her husband Robin, as well as their extraordinary friends who never left their side, on the contrary they were there for both of them at all times, thus lightening Diana's load a little and making her friend Robin happier.

Esta es de esas historias que demuestran que todo es posible, no solo si te lo propones y le hechas ganas, sino que las posibilidades de éxito por más escasas que sean se elevarán si cuentas con alguien incondicionalmente, en todo el sentido de la palabra. No hay otra forma de describir esta historia, es simplemente inspiradora, tanto Diana como su esposo Robin, al igual que sus extraordinarios amigos que jamás se fueron de su lado, al contrario estuvieron para ambos en todo momento, aligerando así un poco la carga en Diana y haciendo más feliz a su amigo Robin.

The truth is that I really liked the performance of the protagonist, with this role I saw a much more mature side of him and definitely a dark role, with a lot of emotional charge and at the same time so full of light, it should not have been easy for him to act more than half a film prostrate, his expressions of both sadness and happiness were great, the only thing that would have made this story much more interesting is the fact of focusing more on Robin's illness than the love between them, but it wasn't terrible, the story does revolve around Robin, even so, not all the attention is on his illness.

La verdad es que me gustó muchísimo la actuación del protagonista, con este papel vi un lado mucho más maduro de él y definitivamente un papel algo oscuro, con mucha carga emocional y a la vez tan lleno de luz, no debió haber sido nada fácil para él actuar más de media película postrado, sus expresiones tanto de tristezas como de felicidad estuvieron grandiosas, lo único que sí hubiese hecho a esta historia mucho más interesante es el hecho de enfocarse más en la enfermedad de Robin que el amor entre ambos, pero no fue nada terrible, la historia si gira entorno a Robin, aun así, no toda la atención esta en su enfermedad.

I've noticed that most films that are based on real events I really like, I don't know if it's because of the fact that I know what really happened, but in this kind of film there is a greater teaching power that I find very appealing, because it's not a made up story but rather inspired by an event in the past and I find that fascinating, and as I've expressed in other reviews, I find the recreation of the old, the costumes and how things look in general fascinating, they achieved that very well in this film.

He notado que la mayoría de las películas que están basadas en hechos reales realmente me gustan mucho, no sé si es por el mismo hecho de saber que realmente pasó, pero en este tipo de películas hay un poder de enseñanza mayor que encuentro muy atractivo, pues no es una historia inventada sino más bien inspirada en un suceso del pasado y encuentro eso fascinante, y como he expresado en otras reseñas, encuentro fascinante la recreación de lo antiguo, la vestimenta y como se ven las cosas en general, lograron muy bien eso en este filme.

Maybe we are simply incomplete and we are in search of that one unconditional person who will complete us, this story taught me that and led me to think that when you feel you found the right person no matter what others say, you have to take a chance you never know what will happen, nor the twists and turns and surprises the future will have for us, so at least we can try.

Puede que simplemente estemos incompletos y estamos en busca de esa persona incondicional que nos completará, esta historia me enseñó eso y me llevó a pensar que cuando sientes que encontraste a la persona correcta sin importar lo que otros digan, debes arriesgarte nunca se sabe que sucederá, ni las vueltas y sorpresas que el futuro nos tendrá, por eso por lo menos podemos intentar.
