Ultraviolet tells the story of Violet Son Jat Shariff (Milla Jovovich) who was infected with a disease called hemoglophagia, which due to its peculiar and specific symptoms, people who suffer from it are classified as vampires, also known as hemoglophages. In a society of the future where humans and these so-called vampires live, the latter, the infected, are being hunted by the government commanded by a tyrant named Ferdinand Daxus (Nick Chinlund), who in an attempt to stop the virus determined that the only solution is to exterminate all people infected by this disease. A group of hemoglophages rebels create a resistance to fight the government and try to survive. Violet, who has been trained in advanced martial arts, is sent on an almost impossible mission to steal a weapon that is said to pose a threat to her kind. To her surprise this weapon turns out to be a boy named Six (Cameron Bright) her mission is to assassinate him, but if Six's existence can end her life... why is she protecting him?

En una sociedad del futuro donde habitan humanos y estos llamados vampiros, estos últimos los infectados, están siendo cazados por el gobierno comandado por un tirano llamado Ferdinand Daxus (Nick Chinlund), quien en un intento por detener el virus determinó que la única solución es exterminar a todas las personas contagiadas por esta enfermedad. Un grupo de rebeldes hemoglófagos crea una resistencia para combatir el gobierno e intentar sobrevivir. Violet que ha sido entrenada en artes marciales muy avanzadas es enviada a una misión casi imposible para robar un arma que se dice representa una amenaza para los de su especie. Para su sorpresa esta arma resulta ser un niño que lleva por nombre Seis (Cameron Bright) su misión es asesinarlo, pero si la existencia de Seis puede acabar con su vida… ¿por qué lo protege?

This is an action-packed story throughout, with a few brief scenes of drama. It's a 2006 movie I was about 12 years old when I saw it, and I was fascinated. All my life I have been a fan of the work of the multi-faceted Russian actress Milla Jovovich, who most know for her starring role in the Resident Evil saga as Alice. As always this actress plays great roles, I have always been captivated by her effort, how can such a beautiful woman learn all those fighting routines and act so well while still looking amazing? Her lead role in this installment has a rather stormy and unfortunate past, so Violet feels her life is worthless, or has no purpose. Violet is a lethal and confident woman who finds in little Six a reason to live.

Esta es una historia llena de acción en todo momento, con unas breves escenas de drama. Es una película del 2006 tenía yo unos 12 años cuando la vi, y quedé fascinado. Toda mi vida he sido un fan del trabajo de la rusa multifacética Milla Jovovich, actriz que la mayoría conoce por su papel protagónico en la saga de Resident Evil como Alice. Como siempre esta actriz interpreta papeles muy buenos, siempre me ha cautivado su esfuerzo. ¿Cómo una mujer tan hermosa puede aprender todas esas rutinas de lucha y actuar tan bien sin dejar de verse increíble? Su rol protagónico en esta entrega tiene un pasado bastante tormentoso y desafortunado, por lo que Violet considera que su vida no vale nada, o que no tiene un propósito. Violet es una mujer letal y llena de confianza que encuentra en el pequeño Seis una razón para vivir.

The symptoms that hemoglophages present are canine teeth more pronounced than normal, extreme sensitivity to light, they can see in the dark, better hearing, sharper eyesight, super strength, advanced regeneration, they are faster, basically they are a superior race and as usual, humans feel threatened by them and for this reason they declared war on them, even though they had not done anything against any human. Because of this, the Resistance was formed, which is nothing more than the infected united to fight the humans who want to eradicate them. The hemoglophagia is contracted simply by coming into contact with the blood of an infected person and although it doesn't seem likely to happen, it's still a very contagious virus.

Los síntomas que presentan los hemoglófagos son los dientes caninos más pronunciados de lo normal, una extrema sensibilidad a la luz, pueden ver en la oscuridad, mejor audición, vista más aguda, súper fuerza, regeneración avanzada, son más veloces, básicamente son una raza superior y como ya es costumbre, los humanos se sienten amenazados por ellos y por este motivo les declararon la guerra, aun cuando ellos no habían hecho nada en contra de ningún humano. Debido a eso se formó la Resistencia que no es más que los infectados unidos para combatir a los humanos que quieren erradicarlos. La hemoglofagia se contrae simplemente al entrar en contacto con la sangre de algún infectado y aunque no parece probable que eso pase, de igual forma es un virus muy contagioso.

One of the coolest visual effects of this movie is how Violet's appearance changes depending on her environment, to be more specific what changes is the color of her clothes and hair, I think it's a great and different idea, visually that makes the movie very attractive because of the constant changes. I particularly loved a scene where his whole suit is white and by coming in contact with blood it turns red, it was really great to see. Also what particularly makes the change more striking is the hair, which she naturally has black hair and when it suddenly turns lilac, it's a pretty drastic change that I felt was one of the things I liked most about this movie, visually speaking.

Uno de los efectos visuales más geniales de esta película es como la apariencia de Violet cambia dependiendo de su entorno, para ser más específicos lo que cambia es el color de su ropa y cabello, me parece una idea grandiosa y diferente, visualmente eso hace que la película sea muy atractiva por los constantes cambios. Me encantó particularmente una escena donde todo su traje es blanco y por entrar en contacto con la sangre este se torna rojo, fue realmente grandioso de ver. Además lo que particularmente hace que el cambio sea más llamativo es el cabello, que ella naturalmente lo tiene negro y cuando de pronto pasa a ser lila, es un cambio bastante drástico que sentí que fue una de las cosas que más me gustaron de esta película, visualmente hablando.

Another thing to highlight about this film are the fight scenes, which for a moment seem endless but very entertaining, but I must say that just as they put a lot of effort in some of them in others they simply ended very quickly and as much as I loved the movie this is the negative thing I found about it, because the plot of the movie seemed to me very well oriented, but there are parts where the whole scene gives you the feeling that something great is going to happen and when you blink a couple of times everything ends, I felt that they should have done much more in some confrontations that seemed really important, but they seem to be made to get out of the way. Talking about things I didn't like, there is a scene at the end that I can affirm that it's the decisive battle and you practically can't see well what happens, you can understand perfectly what happens, but because of how dark everything is, unfortunately you miss a lot. I think they did it because the scene could have been very grotesque and bloody, but still.

Otra cosa que hay que resaltar de este filme son las escenas de lucha, que por un momento parecen interminable pero muy entretenidas, pero debo decir que así como pusieron mucho esfuerzo en algunas en otras simplemente acabaron muy rápido y por más que me encantó la película esto es lo negativo que encontré al respecto, porque la trama de la película me pareció muy bien orientada, pero hay partes donde toda la escena te da a entender que va a pasar algo grandioso y al parpadear un par de veces todo termina, sentí que debieron haber hecho mucho más en algunos enfrentamientos que parecían realmente importantes, pero parecen hechos por salir del paso. Hablando de cosas que no me gustaron, hay una escena al final que puedo afirmar que es la batalla decisiva y prácticamente no se puede ver bien lo que sucede, se entiende perfecto lo que pasa, pero por lo oscuro que esta todo lamentablemente te pierdes de mucho. Creo que lo hicieron porque la escena pudo a ver sido muy grotesca y sangrienta, pero aun así.

There is a guy named Garth (William Fishtner) who has feelings for Violet, it's very obvious to be honest, but for the same reasons I mentioned above, although she is clear she never reciprocates. He is some kind of genius when it comes to advanced medicine and things like that, besides that he is the one in charge of making all the weapons Violet uses, you can see the appreciation she feels for him. As this story takes place in the year 2078 the technology is super advanced and the hemoglophages because they are so gifted are able to get weapons and even ammunition out of their body, it's something quite ingenious and unique, it's something you have to see. That's why I wanted to mention the character Garth, because he's the one who handles all that technology.

Hay un sujeto llamado Garth (William Fishtner) quien tiene sentimientos por Violet, es muy obvio la verdad, pero por las mismas razones que mencioné anteriormente, aunque ella lo tiene claro ella jamás le corresponde. Él es una especie de genio en lo que respecta a medicina avanzada y cosas por el estilo, además de eso él es el encargado de fabricar todas las armas que Violet usa, se nota el aprecio que ella siente por él. Como esta historia se desarrolla en el año 2078 la tecnología es súper avanzada y los hemoglófagos por ser tan dotados son capaces de sacar armas y hasta municiones de su cuerpo, es algo bastante ingenioso y único, es algo que tienes que ver. Por eso quise mencionar al personaje Garth, porque el es el que maneja toda esa tecnología.

Of course you have to watch it. It's a story full of action, with a good plot, with quite striking visual effects, with a tyrant that you will hate just by seeing him and with a very peculiar protagonist. Now that I think about it, it seems to me that many aspects of this story are unique, the effort is remarkable in almost all the production, with some disappointing exceptions, but in general I think that everything positive outweighs those moments that were negative, so I think it's worth seeing, personally I liked it a lot.

Claro que debes verla. Es una historia llena de muchísima acción, con una buena trama, con efectos visuales bastante llamativos, con un tirano al que vas a odiar con tan solo verlo y con una protagonista bastante peculiar. Ahora que la pienso me parece que muchos aspectos de esta historia son únicos, el esfuerzo es notable en casi toda la producción, con algunas excepciones algo decepcionantes, pero en general pienso que todo lo positivo tiene más peso que esos momentos que fueron negativos, por eso considero que vale la pena verla, personalmente me gustó muchísimo.
