The Festus House.
Among all the tribe's people who had one way or another tried to guess as my origin, Hausa/Fulani top the list of Igbo, Akwa-Ibom, and a few from middle belts, almost everyone who guessed Hausa said similar reasons.
When I thought I was the only one, my elder brother had on rare occasions asked me if he looked like a Fulani.
I was 100% certain he had been asked that question more times than he had asked me for confirmation and I say so because he hardly bothers himself with such talks.
I later got to know that he receives compliments for such too, and ironically for the same reason as mine.
I never thought of the reason people say they say it might be a family trait, I honestly thought traits could be only when two or more people from a long ancestorial bloodline have a particular birthmark or gap teeth, that's the only traits that I defined as traits lol
However, it hadn't even crossed my mind that my siblings and I got most of our features from our dad. Mine should be a little different since I grew up hearing down to this day, how people say I look so much like my mom when we appear in the same room which brought the confusion on how my elder brother and I get the same compliment from others with the same reason even without standing together and I also wonder if I changed from mom features to Dad overnight to get such complimentary ..lol or just maybe I look like both but when we're describing features. At least, that was the only assurance I got that I was my parent's child the day I doubted if they were the ones that birthed me, especially on the days were I chopped steady lashes from mom..lol
The triangular face-shifted chin structural look is a trait that comes from my dad’s family and the reason my brother and I are asked the same question whenever people mistake us for Fulani or Hausa. I knew it was from Dad the day I met with extended relatives during my late grandmom’s funeral.
That was the very first day I met with family outside my Dad, Mom and brothers from my dads.
It was from his angle and it felt so right because all his other eight siblings and even their children present who are my cousins had the same sharp jaw and chin with even lips that looked so much alike.
Oh well, I forgot to mention my elder brother being the exact copy of the family bloodline. Unlike me who might escape if not properly looked upon due to having a fuller cheek, the opposite is the case for him.
But one thing is certain, predicting relations from dad’s side might not be all difficult and it would be easier if it were even a male because of the strong similarities in sharpened triangler and lips features look.
