A Scary Moment

It was just a normal day for Sydney and her friends to hang around, have some fun and play some games. Night had fallen upon them and the atmosphere was so cold and dark. The barely lit room was scary enough to scare normal people but not enough to stop an unintelligent college student from being daring. Even though a lot of rumors have been going around about the Pearson's tabernacle. The alleged Pearson spirit was bound to haunt anyone who stepped foot in his home but teenage hormones was prone to make people stupid and that was the same for Sydney group of friends.

The group of friends consisted of Marco, the most reasonable of them all, Rosa happens to be the craziest girl on the planet, Miranda is the nerd and finally, Sydney was the dare devil in the group. Over time, she went through a lot of dare to the point where she was bored and tired of plain dare.

" Let's play truth or dare," Rosa suggested. if you told Sydney to play truth or dare she would so willingly do it but now, it just felt like a regular thing.

" Why don't we add a little spice to the dare game" Sydney had a glint of mischievousness in her eyes and she started smiling so creepily. Nothing could stop what was going in her head as the gears in her brain kept turning and her friends knew she was up to no good. She explained to them how they'll play the game. They were to write five dares each on small pieces of paper and throw it in a basket, shake the basket and pick one by one. Any dare you pick is what you're to do. Sydney decided to call this dare devil's basket.

"Devil's basket!" they all chanted. Marco was to go first and his dare was to kiss Rosa. He felt disgusted at first because he saw Rosa has a sister but he had no option than to kiss her. Things were now a little awkward and then Miranda decided to go next. She picked her paper and read he dared out.

" Call one of your parents and tell them you're pregnant" she wondered who could have written such a dare and with the smile itching on Rosa's face, she was absolutely sure Rosa was the one behind this.

Miranda took her phone out and decided to call her mum since her mum was the most understanding person she had ever known. She tried calling her mum but the number was not reachable and then, she dropped a text for her letting her know she was pregnant. Almost immediately she got a call from her mum. Her friends could hear shouts coming from the other end of the phone. Honestly, you wouldn't expect such from Miranda's mum as she was the most understanding person they have ever met.

It now came down to Sydney's turn. She was hesitant at first as she wasn't sure what her dare might be. She hoped it wouldn't be something too extreme. After seeing what she picked, it was as if a bucket of cold water was poured on her. Her dare was to go to the town's cemetery and spend ten minutes there. Her friends drove her to the cemetery and waited one block away. It was as if the night grew darker and foggy.

The hairs at the back of her neck stood up and a strange chilling shock ran down her back and she loudly swallowed the lump in her throat. The rows in the cemetery were lined up silently and it all seemed creepy to her. Sydney heard a strange noise and she shouted into the cold night,

"Who is there?" she screamed and it suddenly felt as if someone was watching her.

She had never been so scared all her life and suddenly, icy fingers gripped her hands in the darkness and a shaky voice said in her ears "Boo!" and almost immediately, she let out a shrill cry into the darkness.

Laughter echoed through the dark night and she turned around only for her to meet a man who was laughing so hard at her.

" I'm John, the gateman of this cemetery" John told Sydney how young people like her always came here for fun and he always scared them. Scaring them was like entertainment for him. Sydney promised herself to never go extreme with dares as she almost peed her pants because of this drama.
